what good games? not trolling, just curious?
The sports games are good. I don't mind that so much of the premium stuff is only for cash, though I haven't actually bought any of it. They're good games regardless.

And Anthem looks like it will be a good game as well, even if it isn't for everyone. There is no such thing as a game for EVERYONE.

Every game is the same every year, sports or not. They add some expansion, maybe some new characters, ultimately it's the same game tho.

Some of you guys think we're hating on EA just because it's fun and we're jumping on the hate train.
The fact is we're disappointed with the direction that EA (and other big publishers, for that matter) are headed with the aggressive monetization of everything that has to do with their games: lootboxes, overpriced cosmetic items, 50 different launch dates for the 50 different editions etc. Not only this, but the increasingly more common trend of releasing unfinished, unpolished games, with the promise of "fixing" them later. This "pay first, get product later eventually" mentality is very bad for the industry and disrespectful to the consumers.
Bethesda did this recently: they released Fallout 76, which was a complete disaster, shitting on their fans' goodwill and ensuring that any other game they put out in the future will be faced with a lot of skepticism and criticism. Before that, there were Ubisoft with For Honor and Hello Games with NMS.
It's only up to us to challenge the standards that the publishers are trying to impose on us.
Keep paying for substandard, unfinished and overpriced games and they have no reason to ever make things right.
So saying "if you don't want to pay $20 for a skin, just don't buy it" is pretty silly and helps nobody.
"Play something else". What else? Every other big title is shit as well, because you keep buying skins.

^ this so much ^
I would like to point out For Honor is still going strong... they fixed that game... wow.

So the way I approach games, and also what makes me so hardcore about Star Citizen. Is I want games to be good, I LOVE VIDEO GAMES! I can't tell you how much I love the art, the imagination, the storytelling, the gameplay of a great game. I guess I should revise my statement on EA, I don't hate them, I am disappointed in them. I use to play so many EA games, Titanfall, Mass Effect (1-3), Dragon Age, Battlefield (1942-4), are all some of my favorite games OF ALL TIME. The issue is like I have said in the past, EA just is not making games like that anymore. I have played the ME games so many times, Dragon Age so many times. I have probably 500 hours in each of those franchises AT LEAST. However, everything that put out in the last few years.... I have gotten bored within hours of starting the game. Granted, maybe I have changed, but either way, I wish I could enjoy the games again... but I can't them seem, short, low on content, and/or poorly made. This is why Star Citizen is so big for me. I see it putting a new standard on games, making others have to compete with a new quality of game to get our money. Yes, Star Citizen also scratches my Firefly, Star Wars, and many other sci-fi itches. It also will raise a universal higher bar for the quality of video games everywhere, but many AAA games.

What we have here is a difference of opinion.

Nobody is right, nobody is wrong. We just see things differently.

To wrap up this thread from my perspective, here is the TLDR:

Anthem had nothing to do with @sum1 being pissed at EA and uninstalling origin. sum1 clearly hates EA for reasons that have nothing at all to do with Anthem. Maybe he hoped Anthem would be such an amazing game that he could forget his hatred for them, but alas, it wasn't so, at least from his perspective.

This doesn't mean the game is bad.

To each their own.

you are so wrong about me it's actually very funny. I wish Anthem is and will be a good game. however, the beta gave me no insurance that it would be, in fact, it made me think the opposite. could it still be? I hope so. As games are art, this means that my opinion is just that, mine. you can have a valid opinion that is not mine. However, with this being the last EA title I have been looking forward to it made me reflect that EA has not put out anything I call good in years. ME:A, bugs and canceled the ME universe. SW:BF, 1 was very limited, 2, extensive micro-transactions and yet again very limited. I hope EA makes a good game, I really do, but the Anthem demos were fairly bad experiences for me. as such it is the latest in a long line of EA games that I have not liked... I am more than happy to have EA prove me wrong.

Supitza, there is no argument there, nobody is disagreeing with those points. Everything you wrote is well established and understood.

We as a gaming community need to reward games that give us the quality we deserve for a $60 game (Think Witcher III). When a game that is meant to be AAA is sold to us for $60, but then they want more money to open up more maps (Battlefront), then we make a noise and let EA know that they have pushed too far. The gaming community did that, EA tried to push further and until they got pushed back, which is where we are today.

Everything you said was fine until this sentence:

So saying "if you don't want to pay $20 for a skin, just don't buy it" is pretty silly and helps nobody.
A few things:

1) That skin is not $20, I guarantee it.

2) If you are an adult and like Anthem, and you are enjoying the game to the point where you actually want a paint job and are willing to pay $20, why should angry internet gaming activists be dictating to you what you should be doing with your money?

Im all for coming together as a community and putting the pressure on publishers like EA to change their ways, but I draw the line at being angry at adults who are fully capable of making their own decisions.

3) If you are going to punish Publishers like EA, be sure to also realize when changes are being made for the better. Also be aware that Bioware is not EA. Bioware is the developer, EA is the publisher. Bioware does not want to fuck up and has made it very clear from the beginning that they want to offer something new and not repeat EA's mistakes from Battlefront II.

Bioware says no paid DLC's, no paid loot box for better weapons, no paid loot box for extra content, they are repeating this over and over and over.

As we can clearly see, no matter what they say or do, there is that angry mob mentality of "EA BAAAD!!! ANTHEM SUCKS!"

How many thousands of people had already made up their minds before they even played the demo?

Then on the day of the demo, when the servers got hit (as expected) and nobody could get on, or nobody was able to launch with a team, was everybody logical about it and understanding that it was a pre-launch demo?

Or would the EA haters immediately go hit social media and rant about how terrible an experience it was and than Anthem has already failed?

I for one am rooting for Bioware to succeed, I want to see Anthem be a great game and Im really hoping they do another Mass Effect!

The fact that EA is their publisher will not make me hate on them for small issues like servers being bad in the opening week. I am more interested in seeing how they keep this game exciting and get enough of a playerbase to make it last a few years!

/TLDR
Punishing EA and forcing them to be less greedy can work, but lets not forget that developers and publishers are different entities.

I don't see the problem here.

Anthem is not for you!

I downloaded Destiny, played with you guys for a while.. put in about 50hrs(?).. and Im pretty much done.

Is Destiny a terrible game? Nope, its just not for me.

On the other hand, I have 585hrs in Warframe.

To each their own!

I'm just worried about the micro-transaction stuff. I know they said that it would be cosmetic only but they really want to charge top dollar for those skins and we're not going to pay $20 for carbon fiber color with a crotch tabard and a camera on a stick on the shoulder. I'm picturing Battlefront 2 here and it's not pretty... We got the same promises for it and we know they lied there.

@Montoya you have a really good handle on it, I think. I would like to clarify some of my arguments, so people can hopefully understand where I am coming from.

Totally agree, I hope Anthem proves me wrong, but the beta experience was not what I wanted in a game. If you liked it, GO FOR IT! hard pass for me. my deleting the Origin app was more as a comment on this was the last EA game for some time that I had hoped for, so I was getting rid of the app.... the next day Apex Legends blindsided me I redownloaded the app, played, a little, enjoyed it so far.

My goal is not to punish anyone, rather just being honest that I have not enjoyed any EA game, no matter who made it, since 2016. And my second point here is that the Origin app sucks. and EA needs to make it work better to make me want to use it as a platform over something like steam.
As we can clearly see, no matter what they say or do, there is that angry mob mentality of "EA BAAAD!!! ANTHEM SUCKS!"
I am not trying to be part of the mob, I want EA to do good, I want Anthem to be good. Why? because then Destiny and Bungie will have to make better games to keep up, then Ubisoft will have to make The Division 2 better to keep up, then EA will have to do better, etc. I am not part of the EA bad mob.
How many thousands of people had already made up their minds before they even played the demo?
I have played the demo, the more I played the less I liked. I am a shooter guy at heart, the gunplay is not up to my standard, to the point I could not enjoy it if they make shooting in that game better I may pick it up. Right now, shooting in anthem SUCKS. It's not meant to be a shooter, so I can forgive them for it, but it does not speak to me.
Then on the day of the demo, when the servers got hit (as expected) and nobody could get on, or nobody was able to launch with a team, was everybody logical about it and understanding that it was a pre-launch demo?
This is very much on point. The first demo was a mess. as such, I was thinking a lot of the bad things I did not like could be the demo, not the game its self. At the second demo, I saw that what I was hoping was server side of guns not feeling good, was rather just gunplay not feeling good, or rewarding.
Or would the EA haters immediately go hit social media and rant about how terrible an experience it was and than Anthem has already failed?
I am not going on Social media for that reason. I want to have a good talk about it. I WANT ANTHEM TO BE GOOD!
I for one am rooting for Bioware to succeed, I want to see Anthem be a great game and Im really hoping they do another Mass Effect!
MORE MASS EFFECT!!!! I just don't understand how I liked the shooting in that game, but not in Anthem? just me? or if I go back will I be like, wow, this shooting sucks....
The fact that EA is their publisher will not make me hate on them for small issues like servers being bad in the opening week. I am more interested in seeing how they keep this game exciting and get enough of a playerbase to make it last a few years!
I hope it does last years... I am not seeing it from what they have talked about and shown, but I have been wrong before and will be again. A lot of it has to do with how EA and BioWare address issues that do arise. because they will. Destiny 2 had that happen, the devs fixed it, changed everything, and got the game back on the path. WHEN this happens with Anthem, Will they be able to course correct? if so Anthem could be an EPIC game, if not, Anthem will diminish, and go into the West.

Lets be honest here guys, none of us really give a shit about any of these games, we are just looking for time fillers until 2021 when Star Citizen finally arrives. 😉
True... Honestly I can't think of anything else this year that I'm interested in.... What is coming out btw?
