I'll be picking up stuff to start streaming sooner than later (next month or so, I think). I thought I'd ask the pro's for their advice. I'm all ears for suggestions on cameras (obviously SC foip compatible), green screen, and marketing advice :D

I bought my cam (Logitech 920C HD Pro), it was $80ish on Amazon. Great low light, no need to use a green screen. Trying to figure out my streamer name, and talking to some people about a logo (for some reason I feel like I need a logo before I start). Excited to start streaming soon!

More than gear, more than settings, more than anything else, the best tip one can give is get comfortable talking... a lot. If no one is in chat, practice stream of consciousness type stuff. Exercising your ability to keep the narrative moving is a very tough, but very important step to being a good streamer. Good luck, have fun.

What webcam does the glorious leader use?

I'm looking at logitech webcams. For what I can tell the 922 is worse than the 920. The Brio looks amazing but it's also 100$ more

The answer is shrouded in mystery.

I have a C922x and like it quite a bit, but never use the built-in greenscreen-less chroma key features so... meh. If you have a really nice camera with HDMI out, you could always look into an Elgato Cam Link.

Oh you do? How does it stand up? A review I read said it didnt work with the logitech software or windows 10. There were quite a few negatives about the green screen due to 3rd part software.

I'm looking at getting a webcam for recording and FoIP. Any recommendations are very helpful and wanted!

I like the C922x just fine, their chroma-without-greenscreen software is buggy as all hell and not really worth it. I have a pop-up greenscreen by Cowboy Studio. I use a Newer Ring Light and pair It with a pair of Limostudio Tabletop LED light to fill.

I do a 1 PC stream setup and run all my audio through a Yamaha MG12XU 12-Input 4-Bus Mixer. I run a Rode NT1 Condenser Mic mounted on a Rode PS1 Swivel Mount.

Having helped setup my buddy's stream as well, I can also highly recommend the new TC-Helicon GoXLR mixer too; it's really versatile and saves you from running a mess of analog audio cables like I do.

Using OBS or any other stream/recording program when gaming the "Stream Deck" is a second two helping hands making things so easy and it can be used as button box for gaming to.
I use it for starCitizen and a lot of other programs like Photoshop, race sims.. etc.. etc.. and of cause when I record stuff with OBS ;)

Yup, the Elgato Stream Deck is incredibly useful. I don't think it's key to get started, but it's a more-than-worthy investment eventually.

@Mich Angel, how do you have your stream deck setup for SC? What hotkeys does it run for you?

I use it for every thing landing gear, shipe ready, power, shield, weponsystems.. etc.. if there is a key assignment to key on keyboard you can use it there is a couple a good icons to use for it to made by a SC user, i use them as ide to create my own or find animated gif to use look much cooler. ;)

There are tons more icons to use but I started with this two and slowly working to exchange them to animated icons

CHEERS! ;) Side note: To get inspiration I use "Stream Deck Icons" in google search to get ideas.. ;)
