Let's keep this ball rolling, any other good books out there? You all need to ask yoruselves, have your friends nominated, and if not, why havent you made them nominate a book yet?

Finally finished my 14th book of the year and god damn it was a good one, hence my nomination,

All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders

Ok, in reality it's only decent for a sci-fi novel, especially in the big wide verse of them. But for a debut novel it was much better than expected.

On to my 15th book now! :D

He's the guy that suggested Dune, but it's kinda hidden.

The Icarus Hunt by Timothy Zahn.
My wife recently bought a signed book of Thrawn: Alliances for me. I love his work.

I'm going to nominate Neal Stephenson's Anathem again. Its starts off in what is essentially a sort of monastery for intellectuals who have spent the last few thousand years studying math, philosophy etc., I thought it was an interesting read.
