In this video we TEST the fundamentals of free fall dropping a Constellation through the atmosphere. This TEST involves the most critical element, IMPACT on the surface! In addition to the question that has been plaguing TEST for decades upon decades, "Will it bounce."

@Phil only if I can bounce it off a planet for you. 😁

@Black Sunder I'll keep that in mind for the next run, it's a hell of a lot more convinient than flying in on engines because of how long it takes.
From freefall I kick engines back on at 30K, make sure everything is powered up and still going full speed. When I get to 20K from target I let off the engines a bit so the afterburner speed drops down to about 600-700. From there at 10K out I drop it to 300 or so before about 2K and normal SCM speed and slowdown. It isn't 'exciting' but it saves me from dropping to the ground.

I'm going to have to practice a few times to master it, but I'll try that in the 600i next time I'm in the game.

Just remember the 600 elevator is bugged so do not use it while in space or you'll not be using it to get back into your ship. Yesterday after a suicide death after clipping into the ceiling over the captains bed I attempted to use the elevator to get back on the ship. The elevator pad became detached from the ship and sailed off toward crusader.

Yeah I saw that when I landed in Lorville last night, the elevator was bouncing my ship on the landing bay. I've also tried to use it to get out after a proper landing and just fallen through the hole...

On that note though, I did do a successful freefall over Lorville last night without a crash landing, I leveled out at around 2500 feet and cruised right into the spaceport.

I wouldn't go around talking about that near @Wolfy or they might get the wrong idea about your faith and pull out the pillars.
