IBM pc
8Mhz
512 ram
With an ass kickin' 20mb hard-card dropped into one of my ISA slots.
Monochrome monitor with green text.
I thought I was a GOD flying through Lotus 123 and Word Star.
Good times.
Are you some kind of millionaire? My 1st PC was a Panasonic Portable with a built in keyboard, 9" monochromatic green screen, thermal printer & dual 5" floppy drives.
We didn't call them laptops, they were "portable computers" Except at ~20-25 pounds and up, they were more "luggable" than portable, and that was the name they inherited. Lord that brings back memories. This man had laptops before they were laptops.
The 1 I had weighed between 35-50 lbs, so you would have to set it up on a sturdy flat surface to use it effectively. Broken legs aren't worth playing Dig-dug on the go.Are you some kind of millionaire?

Yes, it was portable, but it was heavy & you had to treat it gently or it would be effectively toast. The version I had didn't have a hard drive, but used a pair of 5" floppy disks at the same time. God help you if you were holding 1 of them & either went close enough to something magnetic or accidentally built up enough static electricity to give the disk a slight shock. We didn't call them laptops, they were "portable computers" Except at ~20-25 pounds and up, they were more "luggable" than portable, and that was the name they inherited.
