I have just stopped, two weeks ago, from using my Itaste MVP e-cig. It was a great way to get myself off of smoking real cigarettes; but got into the e-cig as a means to eventually quit all together. Being able to lower the nicotine level was a very big benefit I think to the end goal of stopping all smoke and nicotine entering my system...

I still have my e-cig... just now its in boxes ready to ship back home with all my gear....

Montoya - I've seen some people speak about their e-cigs the same way some people here speak about their gaming rigs or even their car... it's... interesting.

Some people put specs and compare and see who has the best build or setup or whatnot, but Im not really one of those. There are forums out the waazoo about vaping, mods, attys, fluids and what not. There are hundreds of facebook pages on vaping, they range from what type of vaping, to the region you live in or coil builds.

Vaping can be very segmented. E-cigs come in many different styles with many different components or very few. A typical starter kit can consist of the tank, a battery, charger and fluid. A more advanced setup can consist of wire for making coils, wicking material, atomizer or tank, mod, battery, drip tip or chuff cap, and charger.
Atomizer/Atty/Tank
The atty is where fluid is heated, atomized and turned into the aerosol to be inhaled. There are two basic types, tanks, and drip atomizers.Tanks have some sort of reservoir for holding e-liquid. Sizes vary from a few mL, upto 6mL. Inside the tank is a "coil" or "wick". They vary in electrical resistance, size, and interchangeability between tanks. Some tanks have coils that are not intended to be rebuilt and must be replaced. Other tanks have rebuild able coil. Drip atomizers come in many different styles, ranging from simple, cheap and disposable to large, expensive, and rebuildable. They can have a single coil, dual coil, quad coils, serial, parallel coils, and twisted or strand. The building of coils for atties has become an artform all its own. Mods/Batteries
Mods are what hold the battery whether its a mechanical mods, box mods, or varible voltage/ wattage mods. Mods can also fall into multiple categories. Mechanical mods are defined by a mechanical button used to complete the circuit required to fire the e-cig. There is no adjusting the volts, wattage, or current that is sent to the atomizer. They are cylindrical in shape, and resemble a AA battery flashlight. Box mods come in several different varieties. They are box shaped, as the name implies, usually have an IC built in that controls wattage or voltage or both. There are some box mods that can also be mechanical, but these are generally hand made, one offs. Then there are variable voltage/wattage mods. These can resemble thinner versions of the mech mods. EGO style batteries are fairly popular starter mods. The batteries are rechargeable but not removable as the tube is the battery.

This is just a quicky on E-Cig. I will answer what I can, or point people in the right direction when I cant.

very nice setup guys. Svenrichter, your into the authentic mods and whatnot? I cant bring myself to spend $100+ on what is essentially a flashlight tube. Kudos to those that can, and I understand wanting to support those that make authentics but part of the reason for me quitting was to save some money.

Rayezilla, what ohm are you running at? Gauge wire?

I rebuilt my plume this afternoon. Dual coil, 26 gauge @ .5 ohms

Seth, this veritas I'm running is a 1.1ohm single coil 25 gauge. I run it at around 30-35 watts. It is an average RDA for vapor production but has incredible flavor and is 99% leak proof.

You guys all have pretty sweet modular setups and stuff. I've been sticking with a simple setup with a black Vision- Spinner II variable voltage battery, and an Aspire- Mini Nautilus tank. Small enough to keep in my pocket, yet big enough battery and coil to last as long as I need it with a good flavor and low leakage. Its nothing special but its an incredible upgrade from the Kanger Evod pen.

I would recommend a product at least as quality as the Evod to anybody who isn't sure they want to invest money in a pen. Any serious use though it doesn't hold up. The tank is small, prone to occasional leakage, and small battery. Great for casual use for a cheap price though. The mini nautilus or the Nautilus is great.

I have had some digestive health problems recently that require me to cut out all nicotine so I actually mix a very low nicotine content juice with CBD juice from hemp. It tastes great and the thicker juice works well with the coils in my tank.

I've been cigarette free for a year this month. This shit's great.

I have a deteriorating eVic with an aspire nautilus. It's about time to replace it.

My older brother used to smoke, but I convinced him to switch to vaping--it's much safer.

buy a cloned RDAs ( rebuildable atomizers) locally (fasttech if you are willing to wait), don't buy mech mods (unless you're really broke and can find a cloned mech for $20). You want a regulated mod, ipv 50s are what, $60 now? I got mine used in that range. RDAs are very cost efficient, they just take some time to figure out how to build coils and everything.

I started a company that manufactured E-liquids back in the day (7 years ago now), and we sold to distributed to companies like NLA, but since got out of that industry. I did make a KILLING in that market though. I mean a BUTTLOAD of money. I was just in the right place at the right time. Our profit margin was like 90%. We were doing 10,000-20,000 30ml's a week.

For those of you who have moved on from the simple vape units, are there any tips you can share for saving some money in the long run? I'm going to be vaping for a while, it seems.

There are a number of online shops that sell 120ml bottles of fluid at extremely low cost. I believe that good life vapor is one of them. Get on youtube and find reviewers that you like and have similar taste in builds or fluids, they can guide you down the right path. Grimm Green and Pbusardo (http://www.tasteyourjuice.com/) are good places to start. Pbusardo has a really great site that has fluid and build recommendations.

Find the build that works for you. I like dripping, cheaper on coils/burners but you will go through more fluid. On a standard tank setup, I would go through maybe 30-50ml every two weeks. With a dripper, I am going through 100+ml every two weeks and sometimes more if I have a lot of down time and a really good fluid.

So dripping is cheaper as far as hardware goes, but juice purchase will probably increase. On the flip side, the juices have a much better flavor. The individual flavors stand out more, its not as muddled. I haven't bought wire or wicking material to make the coils on my RDAs in months. This past week, I found a Beetlejuice and Unicorn Pooh from Smokecrossroads, The beetlejuice came in a 30ml 80VG/20PG and the Unicorn Pooh in a 20ml 50/50 mix, 50/50 is too lite so I cut it with 100%VG turning it into 40ml of 80/20, for a grand total of 70ml of fluid. I vaped almost all of it in under a week. It was that good.

Mech mods are nice, once you get the hang of building coils and have a good understanding of Ohms Law. Regulated mods, aka box mods, are great for overall flexibility. They can be used with RDAs, rebuildable tanks (RBA), and standard coil tanks. Their downside being, if the device doesnt have a high enough wattage, you wont be able to sub-ohm on them.
