Hey! sorry for the bump into this thread but I couldn't help but search for home brewing!

I do this in the spare time, as well as grow Columbus, Centennial and Chinook Hops to brew with once a year!

I also have a brewer's assistant

@Smithory, that is an impressive setup. RoboBrew?

So. I've just gotten into all-grain brewing and now looking for some good recipes. Doing a SMaSH style IPA tomorrow morning. That should be done about a week and then kegged.

Kind of looking for something that would be TEST worthy. Was thinking like a scotch or bourbon aged imperial stout.
Also doing tech for a local anime convention, and they have a staff-only party Sunday night. So thinking of also using that as an excuse for a 2-month aged brew.

It's the Grainfather, all in one all grain brewing machine! it makes things so much easier to brew 5 gallon batches.

I got it like 3 years ago for xmas and have been brewing all grain since. I also went into kegging beer as well. So much easier than bottling and waiting 2 weeks. The wife did say I can upgrade once we get a house lol.

I just got my ball-lock keg kit a week ago, and just finished building my mash tun. So I'm doing the difficult way. 7gal kettle for the main boil, 5 gal kettle for heating the water, and a cooler mash tun.

Actually cleaned my attached garage for this.

awesome!

Where I live there are alot of home brewers, Nano, Micro and brewpub breweries. So the people are always upgrading equipment and selling the old stuff for cheap. Once we get that goal of a house I was allowed to have a brew basement lol.

I have a detached oversized garage, but that is too full of other projects (motorcycle, car, other stuff) and no air conditioning but does have a natural gas heater. So the main garage was taken over.

I talked my wife into the idea of kegging as that I can re-sell the keg, CO2 tank, line(s), and regulator later on, and that it is much easier and quicker than bottling.
A case of clean used bottles go for like $5-8 at the local homebrew store. I just recycled six cases of bottles this morning, and still have like 4 more in different spots (in office and utility room).

Any good software to use other than Beersmith?

I really haven't found one, I have been using beersmith for some time. I do wish some of the features did work on it. I feel like some stuff doesn't work right or isn't explained properly

Thanks for keeping the thread alive Smithroy! I have a little bit of Red Ale left I made a while back. Think I will crack one open. I also Keg, but all my porters/stouts get flip-topped and stored. Kegging is the way to go, cuts the wait in half and I hate cleaning bottles. I currently have Blood-and-Honey clone on tap that sure is refreshing!
