Scrapper Build

I built this PC with left over parts that I had ordered to build the wife's pc with....I bought the wrong CPU and Ram for the Mobo I got her, so I had to buy everything again.

Here is my Scrapper Build:

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K CPU
RAM: DDR4 32000 16 Gigs (Going to Upgrade)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus IX
GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual(Going to Upgrade)
CPU Cooler: Deepcool 240mm AIO Cooler

currently able to run SC on High setting getting between 30 to 60 FPS

when the RTX prices fall alittle more i'll pick up one and then the wife get's the 1070 for hers. Her only request was to have her pc play BL3 lol

I bought the wrong CPU for her mobo awhile back (Me not building a PC in several years didn't know that i7 6th gen with the same pins wouldn't work in a 8th gen mobo) so I got a used Mobo for that CPU and use my GTX1070 from my old build.

I've been pleasantly surprised that SC needs less and less RAM than before. If you don't want to upgrade your 16GB, I would put the money into something else.

From playing off and on during the week I seem to max out at 8 to 9 gigs of Ram usage. I'm sure if I get a newer Graphics card it'll help out.

That's been my exact experience, most recently. Over a year ago, it would use about 17GB of my 32GB on my old rig, and then for the past year it was using about 12GB of my 16GB.

With 3.6.x, it has only been using about 8-9GB, so they are definitely making a LOT of improvements under the hood.

Blow your money on a nice 20x0 something somethng! Or a really nice monitor!

I was able to land a EVGA RTX 2070 Super for a great deal.

I'm currently running SC at 35 to 50 FPS on Area 18 and Hurston. 61 FPS in space on Very High graphic settings. I'm using about 9 to 12 gigs of Ram out of my 16 gigs.

That's about in line with what I'd expect, a little higher than my 1080 Ti. 1 FPS at the high end (I get 60 FPS) and it can drop to around 30 at Area 18. But SC does not seem to use the GPU effectively, it's using CPU to do GPU tasks. You can monitor this using r_DisplayInfo = 3
