Are you certain they are fracturing instead of exploding?
There's been a persistent bug where portions of rocks push below the surface when they fracture, causing them to be lost to the abyss (kind of like beers within reach of @Blind Owl.)

definitely fracturing, i exploded the first i tried and it sent me a long way away. It must be the same bug then, i went back to bounty hunting after that as i made a measly 428euc
Part of the mining mini game is finding a rock made up of the most precious minerals.
If you just mine any crap, you end up with 428 UEC.
same for me today , almost all the rocks i fractured rolled away and went poof , and i would be left with maybe 20% in cargo . i found the whole process very grindy , just need to find the credits per hour of fun that fits what you like to do.
What would be considered a good percentage. Obviously 100% gold would be but realistically what numbers have you been seeing ?
at most 2 to 4 % of 2 or 3 things in a rock , i think i saw one at 7% .
I suspect as some features get fine tuned, mining will be one of the most profitable game loops in Star Citizen. There will most likely be areas with very profitable mining deposits, but at the moment its all pretty random.
