So after a melting or two my fleet ended up as 600i, Mercury Star Runner and a Vulcan, I have a few smaller ships/ground vehicles but nothing major. So I started out thinking I was going to main a M2 Hercules and to me this ship is still so appealing but after flying a few of the larger ships around over the weekend like the Hammerhead, 890 jump etc.... I found out its not easy and it can be stressful lol. So I decided to downgrade into a more medium/large ship size category but also ones that don't require a ton of crew to operate. Most of these will be manageable with 2-3 crewmembers and or a few AI if needed, I think it covers a lot of ground, I can explore with the 600i and with its sensor sweep ability (I think only the Carrack atm has this option) it can also sell data if needed or with the module swap out be used for VIP transport. The Vulcan covers support and the Mercury gives me some not a ton but some cargo/data as well. I have some ground vehicles my fav being the Ranger and Cyclone so I can do some exploring on the ground side.

Now I bounced back and forth between having a combat ship, I will be completely honest at this point combat doesn't interest me as a main profession outside of serving on a ship as a gunner or station crewmen. I don't play a lot to be considered a dogfighter lol and lets just say my time is limited compared to some so I don't see myself reaching a higher tier, I am sure at some point I will become proficient enough to do combat its just not a priority atm for me. I think next year or early 2021 I will start investing in computer upgrades, desk and personalizing a hotas system, until then this is most likely my makeup till the next year of course concept ships or new ships that come along will always be a caveat to this changing lmao.

I learned a lot this anniversary, I think the games in a good place although I wont comment on the funding it still worries me but over all I played the game a lot the past few weeks and enjoyed most of it.

I am kind of stuck at 13 ships.

I have come to the conclusion I am never going to spend hours mining, so dont need any mining ships upfront, ill buy them in game as i dont care about them, same with passenger transportation, repair and refuel, If i get bored ill buy them in game and try them.

So my little collection of ships is now:

Kraken.
Polaris.
Carrack.
BMM
M2
Redeemer
Andromeda <——- surprisingly lethal in 3.7.2
Defender.
Pirate Gladius.
C8x
Sabre Raven.
Dragonfly Black.

Oh and the Anvil Valkyrie, which is my current favourite ship, its brilliant.

The Andromeda has always been lethal, as long as you can get your target in front of it. Not even for very long.

I did take one (with a bounty on it) in PVP with my Warden the other day though. I came in from port rear quarter and he didn't have time to get around, or was trying to run away, I am not sure which. He didn't last as long as I expected. I didn't manage to get into Size 2 weapon range. But the cry of "my drugs" was epic. LOL

Having 4 size 4 and a plethora of Size 1 and 2 missiles is a nasty combination. If it flew better and the cockpit wasn't so obstructed I would have one in my fleet. In fact if the Cockpit wasn't so obstructed, I would spend the time learning how to work around its flight characteristics.

I started with $95 in credits, after CIG Customer Service helped me out by melting my Sabre to Sentinel CCU which I had applied a couple of years ago, and the Sentinel was not what I believed it was.
I melted my Retaliator Base to Constellation Andromeda CCU, but kept my Constellation Andromeda to Retaliator Bomber CCU.
Melted my Mustang Game package with a Avenger Titan CCU on it (5 years Insurance.)
Melted my Warden BUK.
Bought back my Mustang game package with 5 years Insurance.
Bought a Yellow Jacket CCU from a Mustang Alpha.
CCU'd my Gladius (LTI) to a Vanguard Warden. CCU'd the second half of that Nox 2 pack LTI token to an Avenger Titan (Getting that back but now with LTI.)
Bought an Aegis Clothing pack. LOL

Giving me:
A Dragonfly Yellow Jacket with 60 months Insurance.
An Avenger Titan (LTI)
A Vanguard Warden (LTI)
A Retaliator Base (With LTI and a buy it anytime upgrade path to the Bomber)
A Sabre (LTI)
And $11.50 Store Credit. (No new money spent.)

I'm happy and so is my wallet. :)

I regret melting my hull collection as they were all applied CCus so I lost them all.

I must have been drunk at the time.

Saying that, when am I nor drunk??!!?

The thing has some teeth if the pilot has gunners, otherwise it turns too slow for a ship that size. Flying a ship like a Connie while you're alone with a crime stat higher than a parking ticket is not a great idea IMO. There are also a lot of players who have no idea how they got a crimestat or what that means, let alone what to do about it. Many will learn the hard way.

She's been a time of thought, for sure. But at the end of it all, I think I'm going to end up with a Corsair and Santokyai. I think. For now though, I bought a Valk to play with until such time as I feel I wish to apply the other CCUs.

Valk isn't something that I'd considered before, so I'm stepping out of my box to test it, and see where the road leads me. Maybe I love it. Maybe I hate it. Who knows.

In the meantime, I've attempted to set myself up for as much success as possible with my ship vacillating, haha.

Some ship buying strategies are better than others. This is just my opinion:
I think you said you also have a Carrack (with a small fast fighter), Vanguard Sentinel with Harby BUK, and a StarRunner...
To this you're adding the Corsair and Santokyai - I don't see much of anything wrong with your choices as long as they fit your game play style. You have some fight potential you can execute alone, some heavier hitting potential, and some respectable trade capability, not to mention fairly strong exploration potential. As long as that fills the basic goals you start with you're in pretty good shape.

You can upgrade the fighter that comes with the Carrack for 20 bucks to the exploration variant (or you could earlier today). It has double the firepower of the stock version that comes with the Carrack. That's the only thing I can say. Of course there are going to be people who'll tell you 100 other ships you coulda, shoulda, woulda but that's based on their game play style not yours. Keep on truckin @Blind Owl.
(besides, there will be other opportunities to buy ships if things change either in the game or your interests or whatnot.)

I liked the Valkyrie, fun to fly problem is until they add some ground missions where this ship can apply its craft its kind of boring, but I think once the game gets rolling and there is more to do these niche kind of ships, drop ships, gun ships etc.. will be a blast.

Done and done my friend.
So the core fleet is:
Carrack with Pisces Expedition
Sentinel with Harby BUK
Mercury StarRunner

Which then leaves that big, shining pile of loot in the form of store credit to buy basically anything I want.
Problem is, I'm trying to both keep my fleet small and add ships that'll have utility. Lol. Not an easy feet!

Yeah, we want to be Privateers. So raiding, specifically other ships, is a huge part of that. I need to be able to disable enemies, and get onto/into their compounds or facilities.

Prowler and Valkyrie are made for this. But both a over priced, haha. Cool as shit, but over priced.

If you want to do that boarding/raiding cheaper with a smaller group, the Hoplite does that. I do expect a hoplite "Combination Kit" to become available for your Sentinel, eventually. And then you have a stealth dropship. But that is speculation, not fact. It does have the same flight characteristics as the Sentinel.

Since the Rover, Ballista and Tonk are the only ground vehicles with a sealed environment, I do expect the Rover, and ability to transport it, to become important. That plus the poor flight performance of the Connie is how the Valkyrie turned up on my radar.

It has to have some nasty shield holes for as fast as it went down. A CF557 is nasty, but it isn't that nasty. I didn't get close enough for the turrets to hit me, even if he had gunners. My nose guns never got in range.

And this guy was a drug runner, so he knew how he got his crime stat. :)

Perhaps I'm an odd Ewok, but my gut tells me that I should keep the C8 Pisces that came with me Carrack as standard just for the sake of variety & that you can only obtain that version by having a Carrack. It reminds me of my cute little Mustang Omega, but with much better insurance. LoL

True story. Yeah, if they do eventually have that Hoplite BUK then that'll do the trick. For now, the Valk is in my hangar. I'll ride her like a rented mule until such time as I've decided if I like her or not. With enough CCUs in my hangar, I can play with fleets until I've decided what I like.

Sounds like owls having fun!
Owls well that ends well my friends. Cheers!

Just remember that if you find a worm at the bottom of some high end space tequilla, that might not be a worm that you want to down but a baby sand worm that we've been waiting to show up in game since the CitizenCon from several years ago. You might swallow it, only to have it decide that you would make for a good 1st meal.

If you have a worm in your tequila take the bottle back. Worms don't belong in tequila, they are in Mescal.
