Just wanted to point people's attention to the updates at Hardpoint. No idea if they're in game yet, but HP is listing new stealth components that appear much superior to the stock aboard birds like the Sentinel. In particular, the new S2 stealth components include the "Nightfall" cooler, and the "Eclipse" reactor. Replacing the stock with these reduces the Sentinel's already low EM signature greatly. Also note the Sheut shield that comes with the Sentinel now has the highest refresh rate of any S2 shield--almost 10% higher than the FR-76 that had been the highest. It has half the shield capacity of the latter, but it has such a low sig, you could choose to leave it on in stealth mode. I would not, but this is now a plausible option. Also note that if you replace the Sentinel's six S2 weapons with Sledges or Scorpions, and the chin mounted S4 with a Revenant, you could choose to leave some or all of these on in stealth mode. Again I would not, but you could choose to, and if you were drifting a Hoplite BUK on a Sentinel frame up to a target for boarding, having the top turret active could be wise. Same if you're operating in stealth mode on a terrestrial surface.

BTW, has anyone yet got to checking if the Nox will fit in any/all of the Vanguards?

I start ot mess with stealth components since they made the ship modification persistant across reclaims.
My Avenger is always go for a sull stealth setup and you can really see the benefit of it: a full set up more then half both IR and EM signature making you preatty much hard to detect at over 5 km (basically like an Eclipse).
I also notiche that the more important part to a Stealh setup, compared on somuone could think, are the coolers: repleacing the stock coolers with a stealth variant provide much more signature reduction than the shileds or the QD.
You of course need to think about the weapon setup, but unless you'll plan to run 3 mass driver or another smiliar weapon (that, let be honest are not so stealty...) you'll run preatty fine with no power or cooling issue.

I think players are going to find the Sentinel with Harbinger kit may become the ultimate bounty hunting bird. You can kill targets at 11km in that setup totally unseen, and unlike the Eclipse, it is fast, can take a hard pounding, can carry more than one, can stay out long and has incredible range. The Harbinger S5s put out about 30,000 damage, so do the math on what it can kill without having to close to S3 range (9km) and try again. Many ships, dare I say most? will not see it at 9 km either.

I've been wondering about stealth for a while. Seems that regardless of the size of the ship, the numbers on various signatures seem fixed. Like, my avenger and my gemini have very similar EM and IR profiles in certain situations. Wonder if it's just that the UI is not implemented properly yet, or the whole mechanism is halfway there.

Most likely a bit of both with a few other issues added in as well that need balancing & ironing out.

The stealth button on your flight console is sometimes not up by default, so if you don't have a stealth switch to turn on, that could be the problem. However, that only affects IR. Word is that enabling the IR reduction has a large energy budget cost. Component selection is how you get your EM down, and of course only true stealth birds have reduced radar cross section. Void armor will be an option in the future. There are some excellent vids online on how to equip and fly stealthily.

Actually even IR si reduced by componets selection and far far more then EM signature that is more dependant on witch component are active and on the whole ship energy consumption.

Well if i bring enough money until the next wipe i will try this with the retaliator.
Equiped with the same components , bigger payload, long range and multi crew to, just to compare numbers.

The Tally certaily has enough torp onboard to kill an HH, but at 10km it will be seen and at 9km, it is in the HH's S3 missile range. They could easily both kill each other.
