Look at the spreadsheet and start PMing. My FL DUR will require some crew. I have no idea what you'll do except for man the tail gun when needed but I plan on doing some treasure hunting and mineral surveying.

but, that isn't a capital ship :/By capitol ship I mean any multi crew ship, even if it's a cutlass with only 3 crew.
We already went through this. Any multi crew ship counts, and I'm calling them capitol to make the terminology easier to understand.but, that isn't a capital ship :/
capital ship is a large military ship. smallest one is technically a javelin. We just drive multi-crew ships.
Fail at the mini-game and you've accidentally loaded the torpedo backwards. When you look in to see why it didn't fire it blows up in your face. Good times.I wonder how they are going to make torpedo-loading fun.. I mean apart from trying to do it while drunk
How about we call them upper case and lower case ships?Capitol ships only refer to ships where a legislative body meets.
I actually am 100% the opposite of this. I am really looking forward to the support positions and space marine duty. It's like being logistics in EVE or medic in TF2: it's not glamorous, but it's ultra-important. I think you might be surprised how many people will want to do crew duties on capital ships.Everybody wants to be the captain
Ok, everyone minus one. Yes, I'm sure there are people that are interested in support roles. I'd be shocked if it wasn't a fraction of the number that would prefer to pilot.I actually am 100% the opposite of this.
Well the survey right now shows 20 people who didn't even put pilot down at all, so that's 42%. Also, only 1 person put only pilot, so even people that want to be pilots have other roles they're interested in. Obviously with only 48 results it's not exactly representative, but I think there's still more support interest than you think.Ok, everyone minus one. Make that two. Piloting a capital ship is probably like piloting a huge oil tanker or such. Slow and boring. Then you get in a battle and get to yell instructions. Which would maybe fun with proper crew, but the drunken infants we will have on board will do just the opposite you tell them to. Or they go get another beer and make a snack.Ok, everyone minus one. Congratulations, number two.Make that two.
Who said anything about capitals? I stand behind what I said, even with the overwhelming two contradictions. The vast majority of interest in this game will be people wanting to pilot their own ship rather than play support. I don't think people are pledging $100 on average when they don't need a ship to meet their goals.Piloting a capital ship is probably like piloting a huge oil tanker or such.
This survey is specifically aimed at people interested in playing support. Why don't we try another survey, amongst the population that has spent an average of $100, to see if they would PREFER to fly or play as crew on a ship they don't own.Well the survey right now shows 20 people who didn't even put pilot down at all, so that's 42%. keep in mind that in a year (or when the game launches) a lot of new people will join the game that have no craft since they didn't "buy" one before. i gues enough people want to get in the game without buying a ship first. thus will search for people who are willing to share their income for a extra hand on the multicrew ship. This survey is specifically aimed at people interested in playing support. I concur. 4.5 Putin? :)I can Captain a ship. I am captain material.
Likewise. I will most likely end up filling a support role from time to time. One of my friends has an Idris. Another bought a starter ship and doesn't really want to pilot. My original statement wasn't to say that no one would prefer to play crew, I have a friend that intends to do that so I know they exist. I was simply stating that the majority would prefer to pilot... particularly when I'm having trouble envisioning most crew positions being very exciting. A turret gunner will only be exciting during battle. What about navigation/shields/etc? How about the crew positions on an non-combat ship? I consider myself pretty creative and even I have a hard time envisioning a way that most of those positions would be as desired as pilot.furthermore: sure i want to fly around in my ships but i would also like to be a crew member and earn my share with shooting down attacking crafts. i bet there will be enough people like me.
