the David Lynch version was too weird for a lot of peope to relate to

the other one was just a hot mess

hopefully this one does justice to a great story

although I believe a multi-part streaming video series would be the best way to capture all the complexity and detail of the novel

It is rather true. I'm one of the lucky ones: sent home from work, still receiving full pay. So I spend my days playing with the little fella and trying my level best to support my wifey who's dealing with the crushing stress of being a nurse during a pandemic.

In an ideal world, we'll get a 10 episode HBO treatment like what they did for Game of Thrones.

This is a good compromise though. Denis Villeneuve is one of the hottest directors right now and the kid playing Paul Atreides is genuinely talented (Call Me By Your Name, The King).

They're definitely interesting though. The fact that the Fremen even had a Messianic Prophecy was due to centuries of meddling from the Bene Gesserit. If they didn't exist, Paul Atreides wouldn't be Muad'Dib and we wouldn't have a story lol. The Biblical equivalent would be Judas. You needed Judas around to betray Christ.

Doesn't mean I have to like them, or not find them extremely creepy, especially after reading how they were founded then how they treated the Duncan gholas (for centuries they raped his clones while they were a child to force his past personalities forward.)

Judas was a saint compared to the stuff the Bene Gesserit did throughout history (like intentionally catching, grooming, then passing along STDs as a form of 'assassination'.)

Really looking forward to this version, I just hope it does well enough to get the second half (this adaption is the first half of the book) made. My fear is that it will now be going up against all the corona delayed movies and we may not get to see the second half.

Dune II, first game I got hooked on, good times. And I loved the Frank Herbert books, and the Children of Dune miniseries.
I can't wait for this movie!

This was an awsome game, probably the first RTS game ever!
