Test Yellow is the Best Yellow and even Porsche knows this.

I've had my share of sweet rides. I remember a time when I was young, wild and free.
So I pull out an old photo.
This Speed Yellow 930 was one of my favorite cars.

RUF CTR "Yellowbird" was legindary back then. Even Today.
No computer assist, just Man with big Testies VS machine.

So this trip down memory lane gave me a PC build idea.
I stripped out the good bits from my X99 5820k PC.
Replaced my Wife's 2080ti with a 980ti for now.
Now I have 2 matched EVGA FTW3 2080ti graphics cards.
Picked up a 10900k with an ASUS Z490-E mother board.
Some fans and a NH-D15 Chromax Black CPU cooler.
Because Yellow Bird was 100% air cooled.

I've had this Thermaltake P5 case for a while.
It was Black. Now it's Black and Yellow.

OK, time to bolt the bits and bobs together.

Tempered Glass. Good thing we don't have Small Children.
MVIMG_20200804_153139.jpg
The case fans provide filtered outside air.
And the back and bottom are open, interesting design, I like it.

I'll work on the cable management later.
Let's set it up and take it for a test drive.

I removed the CPU power limits so that the engine can breathe.
I'll let Intel do it's factory boost management thing.
Let's enable XMP and set the fan curves to Turbo.
The twin's (2x 2080ti) have a nice Factory Over Clock, so we will leave them be.
Hit the Key to get out of bios, load windows and a test bench.
The results? Not Bad.
Good enough for You Tube and Shit Posting.
Welcome to the World Yellow Bird.

Unless I missed it, how much RAM & what speed? To the best of my knowledge (from only seeing those 2 sticks), that would be the bottleneck of this TESTified beast of a machine.
Good eye Talonsbane.
Ram quantity and speed have become more relavent recently.
Many feel that 32GB is the new recomended minimum
Ram is Curently 32GB (2 x 16GB)
  • DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000)
  • Timing 16-16-16-36
  • CAS Latency 16
  • Voltage 1.35V
Some nice DDR4 4000 with some tight timing could shave a little off the lap times.
Anything over 4000mhz and stability can get dicey.

One of my mostest favorite rides ever!
Also I'm pretty sure I won't see a more glorious build this week, and it's only Wednesday*! Well done, you deserve a beers! 🍻 🍻 🍻
(*Technically it's 3am Thursday here, but I follow the Han Solo time frame system: unless you got to sleep, it's still the same day)

I pulled this out just for you bud. Had this on my wall since I was a teen.

Nice!!! Yellow is faster in 3dmark than non yellow - and that's a fact!!

Ps that is aching for a liquid loop with jet black coolant. Water is the only way!!!
