According to the Ares Q&A:I think the Ares has more ammo than people think. Doesn’t it have one shield less than the Ion? Trade off for having ammo and the inherent advantages of ballistic weaponry over energy.
How much ammo can the Inferno carry?
The Inferno has dedicated ammo storage beyond the norm, allowing it to allocate addition ammo to the default ammo box. This works out to be 2-3 times the normal capacity of a ballistic weapon.
Yeah.... problem is that answare feels like a place holder for not having an answare...The Inferno has dedicated ammo storage beyond the norm, allowing it to allocate addition ammo to the default ammo box. This works out to be 2-3 times the normal capacity of a ballistic weapon.
I'm sure that CIG stated that vaguely to avoid being locked into a specified number because it will definitely be going through several rounds of balancing after it's released into the Verse.Yeah.... problem is that answare feels like a place holder for not having an answare...
What the hell is a "normal capacity for a ballistic weapon"? I mean right now value are all over the place!
Tarantula guns set it around 1200round, C-788 has 480, Gatling are 4-5000 (with the S1 having 7000+), ballistic repeater vary from size to size from 480 to 800 ..
Maybe it's me but CIG "normal capacity" feel more like an ab-normal capacity....
Very likely, I just hope the Ares won't be another ballistic repeater that perform good but is useless do to the limited ammo... I think they'll be burned in casoline if they do that (especially after the shitty DS...), but who knows...I'm sure that CIG stated that vaguely to avoid being locked into a specified number because it will definitely be going through several rounds of balancing after it's released into the Verse.
It means that if a normal ballistic gun has 30 seconds of ammo, this will have 60-90 seconds of ammo.Yeah.... problem is that answare feels like a place holder for not having an answare...

Given that its role is to help take down large & cap ships, I'd wager that they'd almost have to provide enough ammo to deliver a few strafes before heading back to the carrier to get your ammo refilled. I'd say that should be a lot of shots, but it's a small ship with a S7 Gatling.Very likely, I just hope the Ares won't be another ballistic repeater that perform good but is useless do to the limited ammo... I wonder how much of a stealth build you might be able to get with this.Shooting large ships from 8km away does not require much rotation and acceleration!
I wonder how much time is going to be spent just shooting random things because the sound is just so beautiful.I wonder how much of a stealth build you might be able to get with this.
8 km sniper ship
I do pride myself on the value I add to a conversation.Such insight!
Imagine playing SC in 4D where you can feel the pulsing of the S7 Gatling through your pilot's seat. Talk about a killer massage.I wonder how much time is going to be spent just shooting random things because the sound is just so beautiful.
I'm conflicted about this ship. It looks cool as hell, but it has such a narrow use case. I'm a fan of heavy fighters though ... hence my conflicting emotions.
Here I was thinking that the great @Montoya was going to suggest letting the next beer decide between yes, no & try (drink) again. Silly me.Do what we all do.
You buy it, then you fly it for a week or two after release.
Then you get bored of it and never use it again.
Not yellow. I think. Looks like snow. No one likes snow.
