The idea of trying to surf a tornado sounds like an unusual challenge, but has interesting imaginative visuals in my case. Good times.
Never chase meta with real money, that gets very expensive very fast.Ya, I agree to try to find your current perfect starter ship is like trying to surf a tornado.
This is very important.Unless your goal is to pick a ship that works well for the current build otherwise pick a ship that looks like something you would like to have a jpg of.
In spite of looking for a good mid tier Bounty Hunting ship, no matter how many times it winds up in my hangar, the Constellation Andromeda lasts no longer than a couple of months before I get rid of it. I just can't stand the way it looks. When you think handsome bounty hunter making his own way in a galaxy of enemies, you think the Constellation. The Constellation, a multi-person freighter, is the most popular ship in RSI’s current production array. Constellations are beloved by smugglers and merchants alike because they are modular, high powered… and just downright iconic-looking.
I don't know if these are the 2 instances where we're most likely to get whacked with the CIG Hammer of Balance across the board, but it wouldn't surprise me if those happen right before the release of active beta & then right before official launch. We know there will be, at least, two more times where they burn down the current ship combat specs, that they have told us about.
I wasn't counting those. They have told us there will be a complete rebuild of the flight and combat model when physical components get into the game, the other one they announced recently, but I don't remember exactly what it was. I believe it was something to do with ship roles, but I wasn't paying much attention, I just said, to myself, oh joy, more feature creep.I don't know if these are the 2 instances where we're most likely to get whacked with the CIG Hammer of Balance across the board, but it wouldn't surprise me if those happen right before the release of active beta & then right before official launch.
Thanks for this info. I am pulling the trigger for the 100i and then step up to Titan. I am not sure about my profession yet. I may try cargo and combat eventually once I get the hang of flight mechanics. Others I do not have knowledge and experience with. I am guessing as I play the game I will slowly explore those professions and then eventually settle on one if it makes sense. One other minor point, if you are going to have two ships, then wait until you get a good LTI token (You'll learn what that means) for your second ship and your second ship should be the profession starter ship for your intended profession. Note that profession starter ships and general starter ships with a game package are two very different things. Keep a basic starter ship, IMHO that is the Aurora, the Mustang or the Titan because you will want something with a fast respawn timer, that is cheap to operate and can do basic missions while you build yourself a stake.
So far the profession starter ships are:
I'm sure I'm missing a couple. I believe the Starfarer is unlikely to remain the entry point to the refining profession, for example.
- Bounty Hunter: Avenger Stalker, Hawk or (maybe) Cutlass Blue.
- Mining: Prospector
- Salvage: Vulture
- Repair, Refuel Rearm: Vulcan
- Cargo: Freelancer Max, Hull-B, Constellation Taurus, Raft
- Data Theft/Data Running: Herald
- Refining: Starfarer
- Combat Pilot: Arrow, Gladius or Hornet.
- Transporter: Liberator
- Dropship: Vanguard Hoplite or Cutlass Steel (Yuck).
- Explorer: Origin 315P, Freelancer DUR
- Medical: Cutlass Red
Never buy a ground vehicle for real money, unless it is as an LTI token or part of a CCU chain, they just aren't worth the money and are way to easy too earn in game.
I upgraded from the Aurora to the Titan it's a great little ship has a small cargo hold and I have been using it for the PvE missions . You can do arena commander and do the single player part and do the pirate swarm and vanduul swarm as well to get practice targeting and using the various weapon capabilities . Enjoy and fly safe .Thanks for this info. I am pulling the trigger for the 100i and then step up to Titan. I am not sure about my profession yet. It is ideal for courier missions, starting (in the current state) bounty hunting missions and starting combat missions. It is a bit light in capacity for cargo running but will let you try your hand at it. It should get the ability to load in some prison cells, in exchange for cargo room, for Bounty Hunting once we get to the point where we are capturing, not just killing, bounties. And it should allow you to equip yourself inside before going out and doing a FPS mission, when needing to equip, becomes a thing. It also has an interior which means you can bring home some loot from when you are on the ground, without having to wait for the "Gold Standard pass."I upgraded from the Aurora to the Titan it's a great little ship has a small cargo hold and I have been using it for the PvE missions . Got the 100i with SQ42. Did my first flight. It was scary as hell because I had some issues getting into the ship and then getting used to the controls. Flew to Spaceport and could not figure out how to land there. Was scared to destroy the ship. Went back to NB and figured that out. Landed without crashing. phew... :)All of your listed options are solid plans, nothing inherently wrong with any of them.
Another thing to consider is whether you also want SQ42, as getting it as part of a package is usually a lot cheaper.
I think the only Combo Packs right now are for Aurora MR, Mustang Alpha, 100i, and Nomad.
SQ42 Standalone: $45
Aurora MR Standalone: $45
Aurora MR Combo: $65
100i Standalone: Discounted $45 (usually $65)
100i Combo: Discounted $65 (usually $85)
Mustang Alpha Standalone: $45
Mustang Alpha Combo: $65
Nomad Standalone: Discounted $71.25 (usually $95)
Nomad Comba: Discounted $91.25 (usually $115)
Many of these are Warbond (requires fresh money), so they're typically temporary.
So, if you want to also get SQ42, then the above options (especially 100i and Nomad) are great options as you can get both the ship and SQ42 for either the same or less than the normal price of the ship.
I will send you a friend request in game.Welcome aboard.
Between my better half and I we have spent way too much on this experiment. But that means if you catch us online you can borrow anything we have. There is no need to drop lots of money to earn your way up, and even with my little (by Concierge standards) fleet, I will still have to build a stake, doing starter missions, before I can actually use most of my fleet.
If you see something you want to borrow (plus the loaners of a Gladiator, Super Hornet and M2), other than the Liberator, which isn't flyable yet, and you see me on, just ask.

Like I said learn from my mistakes, don't repeat them. :)

Did not like 100i interior that much mainly because I had difficulty getting in. After my first flight upgraded to Titan.
Tomorrow I will fly the Titan. Figure out velocity controls etc. Perhaps try my first mission. Maybe a delivery mission I guess.
I will also send some friend requests to members here and on discord.
Oh, I forgot we are supposed to TEST how to crash. My bad. I will promptly rectify it today.Wait, you landed without crashing? Are you sure you belong in test?
