I can agree with you on these.
Ballistic Ammo capacity is or will be tied to armor performance for the weapon's intended application. It's been stated that capacities will be reviewed and adjusted (probably increased) when armor is in the game. PES is a pre-req for armor, so we are moving in that direction.
The range nerf makes me want to drink poor tequila. I REALLY miss having cannon ranges that extended beyond stealth detection range of a properly fitted ship. I have not heard anything at all on what changes they are considering. CR is obsessed with having combat up close and personal, so lay your bets now.
Yogi has said in the past that there will be much more variation again in weapon types and projectile speeds. As weapons exist now, some larger ships have no chance to defend themselves against fighters. An extreme example of the problem would be the turrets on the Odyssey - listing only size 5's for which the projectile speed is so low hitting medium size targets would be a challenge; forget about fighters. This is a ship that absolutely requires a rework on the weapons in order to survive.
One of the driving reasons for having Master Modes is exactly this problem.. when an Aurora with 4 size 1's can take down a Hammerhead with 24 size 4's by making a trivial effort to avoid it's fire, there is a problem with the system. Faster projectile speeds would certainly improve this issue, but there is a limit beyond which the engine won't properly track, especially on a slow game server.
