IIUC, Avenger’s original objection still obtains. The Archimedies has a much smaller hit box. The Fury has much better sight picture, but the biggest advantage of the Fury is its tiny size. If you’ll note in Avenger’s original analysis, he doesn’t mention this at all. Morph noted the extra time necessary for a group to use snubs over fighters from the loading and unloading—at least an hour of combat time removed from your playtime, to load and unload the fighters. If you store them loaded and play regularly, you can cut down this wasted time appreciably.

Deck footprint will always matter in some situations and not others. That’s really a foundational issue determined by situation. The Fury owns the restricted deck space issue found with all carriers. The Arrow is second place if you need a Q drive.

Lots of players do not understand how to select the proper “engineering figures of merit”. It’s not all about firepower, speed, maneuverability and survivability. Sometimes it’s about getting efficiently to the battlefield, or the ability to retreat. In the real world, fighters are judged and limited in their use, based upon operational range. It’s a key Figure of Merit (FoM).

He said the most important factor is pilot skill.

Would you stop a journeyman carpenter from using a nail gun and force the use of a tack hammer?

With equally skilled pilots, Fury vs. LIightning is Egg, meet sledge hammer.

Most things start out rather OP for what they're supposed to be good at, then the next major patch, CIG bashes it with the nerf bat until everybody calls bait & switch.

I mean they do have a long and illustrious track record of releasing, selling shit loads, then nerfing hard.

The F-8 is OP. However since the F-8A is the brand new front line fighter it is supposed to be OP. Like comparing an F-4 to an F-15.
the F8 is very powerful, as was intended. it is exactly as powerful as it was meant to be. it is incorrect to say that it is overpowered, as the massive firepower is balanced by slow pitch & yaw making it difficult to keep the nose on smaller targets.

it does well against targets of similar size to itself or up. it does poorly against targets much smaller tho, as you can see from the video with the Fury.

To be honest, I actually not all that impressed with the F-8. I prefer my Vanguard, especially if the Vanguard had the speed and acceleration it is implied to have in the lore, marketing material, and original vision.
