Yeah so, up till now I’ve pretty much defended attempts for Disney to turn around their horrible failure with the Star Wars property, always hoping the best. Some attempts were pretty good. I still like Mando and Ahsoka. I think I am destined to hate Acolyte.
What we know about it thus far is that it presents the Star Wars cosmology in a new light, essentially portraying the Jedi as controlling and manipulative and very other than “good”. This is a gnostic cosmology—one that invites the audience to rise above notions of good and evil. Sith can be hero’s. Jedi can be villains. The Acolyte can rise above both.
I just want to point out this gnostic world view is behind the vast bulk of occult practice for five millennia. It has been soundly rejected for its gross immorality for all that time, beginning with Babylonian Mystery religion. Gnosticism has never been popular for the same reasons sorcery, and satanism, and spiritualism have never been popular—because it teaches the obviously and stupidly wrong doctrine that we can rise above notions of right and wrong. Gnosticism is and has always been, unspeakably evil. And, it is about to transmute Star Wars into something Kathleen Kennedy has been looking forward to for years, and that George Lucas has already said is completely incompatible with what Star Wars is all about.
So yeah. I’m gonna complain. Count me now, from the start, as a fucking loud complainer that KK is doing her best to utterly destroy Star Wars.
