Any reason to keep a Cutlass Red after picking up one of these?
Plenty I'll say.
Leaving a side the single player use of a medical ship as the sole purpose of a respawn point, the Terraping is not a CuttyRed competitor but more of a Piscies upgrade step.

First of all the Red have 2 T2 bed instead of one, then it has more crew, a full living quarter amenities, and weapons rack.
But the most important things the Cuttlas have over the Terrapin are the docking collar tha tallow you to dock to other ships, and the ability to enter/exit the ship WITHOUT venting all the air in the medical room.
Those are both gameplay aspect that are not really in use since a) room air is not in game yet , and b) there is no rally medial profession yet, but in the future the ability to treat two person at the same time and not have one suffocate when your medial team is exiting the ship will be a good advantage, especially if you are doing that as a profession since a dead patient is unlikely to pay you.

Plus the Cutlass Red still have 4xS3 weapons VS the 2x S2 of the Terrapin... you know, just in case.

On the other hand if you have the Pisces the Terrapin could be a good step up.

Red has 2 Medical beds, more and better weapons, crew accommodations, 12 scu cargo grid, can carry an STV or hoverbike.
The question is therefore a little misguided. The Terrapin is in no way any competition to the vastly superior Cutlass platform.
It competes with the C8R at best, and even there, I still can't see any tangible advantage for the turtle.
Only 1 medical bed, no bed logging, no cargo grid, can't transport a ground vehicle, is nothing more than a mobile respawn point for bunkers and caves.
Just like the C8R.

Aye, this is the conclusion I was getting to as well. Maybe keep the Cutlass Red and upgrade the Pisces to a Terrapin Medical.

Yeah, the Red seems more like an all around ship, so was wondering how the Terrapin Medical would be perceived.

The question is therefore a little misguided.
I asked the question simply to generate dialog around the new ship. Looks like it was successful :-)

It's very disappointing, vast waste of interior space, no seats no cargo grid no weapon or suit storage.

I like turkles

But I won't be getting this one.

I got some store credit saved up and a C8R that I was planning on turtling, but as I still don't know in what way the Turtle is supposed to be of higher value, gameplay wise, I don't think I can justify an upgrade. Or sidegrade.
Only reason for the Turtle so far is nostalgia, I was flying a turtle during the first ever Pyro tech preview I had access to.

Lots of good discussion, but one point that should be corrected..

The medical beds in the Red are Tier 3; The bed in the Medical Terrapin is Tier 2 which is the same treatment class as the Carrack and the 890J. How much this matters DOES remain to be seen, but given how CIG has developed other game loops in the past there will likely be a large gap between them. My expectations based on what has been said -

T1: Ambulance/Paramedic. Treat minor, stabilize major trauma.
T2: Treat major trauma and diseases.
T3: Correct anything medicine can touch including cybernetic replacements.

The Terrapin can land in the Polaris hangar, so presumably other ships with a similar capacity such as the Odyssey and Liberator. With it's armor and shields it might shine in hot zones where taking fire is unavoidable, but again, that's somewhere in the future.

The Red is a more livable ship, but neither are intended for long stretches away from base. They gutted the living quarters from the Terrapin which makes it much less useful in my opinion. And while a jumpseat was added during the PTU phase, the initial lack of it or any other crew capacity makes me wonder WTF role CIG sees this ship playing in the verse that isn't already covered better.

Bottom line for me is that the tiny size of the C8R makes it a more flexible ship to have on hand, especially for use with the larger crewed vessels where having an ambulance in the hangar is useful utilty alongside whatever the main gameplay is for the day.
