The Berkut Golden Eagle, Russia's new tank destroyer, is reportedly equipped with advanced technology features, including:

1. _Improved Fire Control System_: Enables accurate targeting and engagement of enemy armor at long ranges.

2. _Advanced Armor_: Features composite armor and active protection systems to provide enhanced survivability.

3. _Powerful Engine_: Equipped with a high-power engine, allowing for improved mobility and speed.

4. _Enhanced Sensors and Optics_: Includes advanced thermal imaging, night vision, and radar systems for enhanced situational awareness.

5. _Network-Centric Warfare Capability_: Enables real-time data sharing and coordination with other units.

6. _High-Precision Guided Munitions_: Capable of firing advanced, precision-guided anti-tank missiles.

These features make the Berkut a formidable opponent on the battlefield.

It’s also April Fool’s day and a quick reverse image check of this ‘Tank’ led me to a dodgy Facebook post with user comments mocking it as AI generated garbage.

And now because of TEST Squadron’s prominence on the internet and Google search prioritization this image is gonna be circulated even more.

Can we please stop posting shitty AI generated images/videos from Facebook and YouTube?

I don’t know if the pic is real, but the chassis is real. I lean toward believing it because the Russians have been using auto loaders in their tanks so reducing the cross section of the turret seems the next step. The thing is, most tank killers strike down from above, so squishing the turret is only mildly effective.

It's entirely fake, it's an AI generated image created by a spam Facebook account called Interesting Engineering. That account is a well-known AI spambot posting fake and stolen content. It tends to generate inaccurate summaries of real news, it also entirely generates fake content out of nowhere, like that tank image. The chassis only looks real because generative AI is not creative.

I'll also note, the name Berkut quite literally means Golden Eagle in Russian, so they called it the "Golden Eagle Golden Eagle"? There is also a cancelled experimental fighter Su-47 developed by Sukhoi that already has the name Беркут "Berkut", it's unlikely the name would be reused due to that project being a well-known testbed for tech they later used in their fourth and fifth generation fighters.

TBH as it's april 1st, I couldn't decide if this was a serious post or a funny-hehe-fools type post. Still can't.

It's absolutely fake AI garbage.
Left and right track don't match at all
there are no handle bars, lights or any identifiable fixtures to grab or step onto, I can't see neither a protruding nor inset handle for any hatches as there are non visible, and you can't climb by stepping onto he tracks as they are so deep inboard so how'd the crew even get on? from the back? how, teleport through the engine?
Lower front plate feels curved/Vshaped like an old IS/JS tank. Funny shape but it's pointless, flat sheet of armor works fine and much cheaper...
the whole thing looks tiny, the DOF is totally off, the gun is way too thick with a tiny bore, fg lighting doesn't match the bg, there are no visible sensors, there are no attachment points of any kind (hooks for towing, rails, racks, spare track hangers, tools...), it even has a fucking speedhole in the back/side like a lambo! lol
It looks really cool but that's where it ends. It has zero basis in practical reality.

Flat pancake tanks don't work. You can't go hull-down with a flat turret., less space, less ammo, cramped less effective crew and so on. If it carried the imagined benefits, it would have been built 30-50 years ago...
Most important threat comes top-down. Manpads, aircraft, drones. Tank/weapon manuf. know this. Check out some real walkarounds of last years weapons expos where they show off anti-drone upgrades. Turrets are getting 2 to 3 times as high with these additions, and it is well worth the tiny increment in detection. You can't really hide a tank today, it's just not a thing to worry about, so no, this flat wedge design carries no real world benefits.

Anyways, I would love to see this as a light tank shooting lasers on the Soviet side in Red Alert 4 though! They never had one, always just heavy and super heavy, it's time to mix things up!
Too bad we are never getting that game....

That's one sexy beast.
its funny to see how much these turrets have grown in every direction. Exactly the opposite of that really cool AI pic and what one would generally expect.

Note the sensors to the top left (by pic) of the gun. If things like this are not visible, your tank is probably fake.
See how low and forward the gun sits.

I do wonder how much of this fancy smooth look will remain when it goes into proper production and has to actually function as a tank.

These are the ones we just took delivery of at the end of last year Leo 2A7HU (HU as in made for Hungary, special "ima put half the budget in my pockets" edition)

Damn I hate our camo pattern lol. That yellow, it looks like it was vandalized rather than planned. I know I know, it could make sense when looking at it in the distance with a treeline behind it or such, it breaks up the shape rather well. But it's just weird and ugly up close.
The grey is appropriate though, when you come through the border from any direction, everything looks grayer, it's like God dropped a desaturate filter on the whole damn place lol

Hungary's getting the KF51 as well. Looks like they're actually having them assembled in Hungary!

It'll be interesting to see which existing Leo 2 countries switch over to the KF51 Panther and which ones upgrade to the Leopard 2A8. Either way KNDS and Rheinmetall are both going cha ching!

Here, have another cool tank to look at!

@Aramsolari O yeah right, I forgot we are getting the Panthers. I wonder where they will get used first (*looks at the livestream vod from yesterdays city wide protests...)

I've read somewhere a while ago that they (Rheinmetall) did take over one of our ammo factories a year or two ago and have been moving some of the tank production process here as well. We already been building some light armored vehicles for export for a while, which was neat. This is a tiny country, so having large industrial investments here like cars and weapons manuf. is a welcome one. Even if it costs a lot more for the taxpayer initially (loads of tax cuts and grants are provided by the gov. to entice them to come here, loads of bribes go around, contracts into friends and family pockets, ya know, standard corruption for a post-soviet nation), in the long run having industries is mostly beneficial. It creates lots of jobs for people living outside the capital, a much needed thing.
I'm always suprised by how much more stuff we actually make then I know of, it's rarely in the public eye. Cars, tires, batteries...
I remember being very surprised when I saw Demo Matt posted his vid of the Lynx .50 cal. anti mat rifle, never heard of it, didn't know it was designed and made here. It's a rather unorthodox design with it's recoiling barrel, not as useful as it seems cos apparently it still kicks like a mule, but it's sure fun to watch! I'm rarely proud of what comes out of my country, but that was a cool moment!

I am so faced. This is maybe ten times AI has completely fooled me. I’m doomed.
But hey, that is impressive some people still know more about lighting than AI.
Russia doesn't have the ability to even produce its current most powerful tank in any kind of meaningful numbers, nor its most powerful combat aircraft. Simply put, Russia doesn't have the ability to put anything like that in the field for DECADES, if then. Even the US would have a hard time producing a new generation tank in meaningful numbers within a few years, and that would be after 5-10 years of new designs and another few years of lawsuits as rejected designs/contracts are appealed.

The fact that it looked so good is the very first reason to suspect that it's a fake. That said, they also got the coat of arms wrong...I believe Russia uses a two headed eagle for both russia and the russian army

Indeed! Yeah seems like many countries will be looking to have military equipment either built or developed locally since you know…..’gestures widely’.

Speaking of which how’s Hungary doing these days? I hear this guy called Peter the Hungarian is giving Orban his biggest challenge in like forever?
