Hello, I am either smokebaca or JB

I have been following this game since the beginning of kick starter campaign and finally decided to pledge. I am currently looking at two organizations to join. One is obviously yours and the other is ASFL (Applied Space-Faring & Logistics) it's part of reddfaction. I wish I could join both but recently found out I am only able to be in one organization at a time in the Star Citizen universe (registered with ASFL currently).

I would put myself in the category of being a casual-hardcore gamer and was simply curious what are the things you all like to do. I have read a lot on this site and on reddit about the culture and love the fact that its relatively new. However, is there something growing where you guys have developed a focus for the Star Citizen realm. I used to play eve and loved the pvp/pve mission runs with my macherial, but to be honest I enjoyed basically every part of the game and cannot imagine anything different for Star Citizen.

Also for planetside 2 what server do you all play on and faction. I used to play frequently and I think it would be awesome to get more involved.

Lastly if I wanted a more active role in this community what would you guys recommend me doing or what do you need help with right now?

Thanks
Smokebaca

I will try to answer the questions as best I can. Being frank though, the meaty question "what do we like to do" with regards to Star Citizen, is rather nebulous since the game doesn't exist.

Planetside 2: Vanu on Matherson and TR on Connery. Be warned, we are bad...this will likely extend into SC

Active role in the community: Not in the leadership, so this general instead of specific - Post in the forums to get to know us, hang out in the Org chat on RSI.com, play random games with us on Saturday when we have them. From the Org chat there are almost always nightly games that sprout up and people ask for other players, hop on the TS and join in on the fun. Last night there was a big group playing Civ 5, I don't remember all the others I have seen.

Star Citizen: One of things that attracted me to TEST, and this has been reflected in my discussions with various other TESTies is that we are taking a very open approach to SC. Again, the game is over a year away, so we aren't making huge plans yet about what we will do, but there are going to be people in TEST that are doing a little bit of everything. I know we have one group that is planning to be a bit of an organized / tactical squad for likely doing raids or escorts or whatever space fights there are in game. One member was formerly very active in the trading and money making aspects of Eve (i never played) and he seemed very keen on setting up lucrative money makers for TEST. We have no shortage of people who just enjoy playing games together ...alcohol may or may not be involved, and last but not least, we obviously plan on crashing Auroras into everything possible.

Hopefully this gives you a bit of insight into TEST. With the game so far away, right now the most we can do is get to know each other, make friends and have fun. When the game is closer and more game systems (pvp, trading, ect) are fleshed out, I am sure we will have groups forming to take part in all of them.

AS-FL is a fine organization, all of the larger Redd Faction member orgs are most respectable.

But then there is TEST.

FWIW, my understanding is that we'll all be able to join multiple Organizations before the game launches; it's just the current first iteration of Orgs that is restricting players to one registration.

This may be a moot comment, as it sounds like you've already transferred, but there's no reason at all to not register here and stay registered with ASFL on the RSI forums. Your presence there might actually do them more good than us, as we've already got reasonably decent official numbers, and ASFL presumably has a lower headcount. You might not be able to join RSI's TEST chat, but otherwise we're happy to have you in group events and activities if you're registered here or on the subreddit.

As for activities/playstyle, I think Montoya's comments in the stickied post in /r/TestSquadron say it best. It's under the "Imagine if you will" section, and speaks to the multiplicity of activities that we expect to be of the size to be able to accommodate.
