Need Birthday Present Ideas for Kid Brother

Hey family,

So it's my kid-brother's birthday very soon and he'll be turning 17, I'm looking for any ideas or suggestions as to what to get for him.

A little back-story about my brother; we've always been a big family and as such we've never had personal rooms of our own before. Now that my father's passed and I'm away they're moving into a smaller house but now they'll all have their own rooms so I'm looking to get him stuff for which he can make his room his own for the first time.

He's a massive gamer and has been into things like minecraft, warcraft and such. Any geeky suggestions to personalise his room (or anything else that comes to mind) would be awesome!

I'm also putting together some second hand parts so he can make his very own PC.

Are you comfortable sharing how soon "very soon" is? Some ideas need more time to come to fruition than others.

Also, why not Star Citizen? He'll have time to get a rig built that can play it before it comes out and you can recruit him to TEST :D

What kind of budget are you looking at? If it was me and budget willing I would build him a base computer that he could upgrade and customize. Pretty much the basics case, motherboard/cpu, ram, ssd, psu and maybe if any left over money a gtx 960 (around $200 usd yet more than enough power). This would let him learn and make what he wants yet give him a start.

I don't have much inv the way of good suggestions. I also don't know what to get your kid brother. But your avatar is awesome. Though I always liked Jake better.

His birthday is on Friday, but the move is a couple of weeks from now so the intent is to feign the forgetful brother and have it all wrapped up when he enters his room for the first time.

So I should have guessed that you lot would suggest an Alpha package (I should have seen that one from a mile away! :P) And I think you're right so a Mustang Alpha has definitely been put into the mix. I was even perhaps thinking about Elite but I'm as of yet unsure if he'd like that kind of game.

Had a talk with some guys from Mumble too, furniture (Duh!) was suggested so I'm thinking of perhaps an affordable gamer chair or somesuch and some posters and other such nick-nacks.
