Aight, so currently I have a Dropship/Cargo Retaliator and a Mustang Omega. I plan to message the wonderful necromancers at Customer service to revive one of my old ships. My choice is between a Redeemer LTI and a Vanguard LTI. I'm torn between the two, hopefully you guys can sway me to one or the other.

I personally recommend the Vanguard as it offers a stand-alone capability with minimal crew requirements compared to the Retaliator. The Redeemer in contrast, requires the same crew as a Retaliator.

Mustang: 1 Person
Vanguard: 2 People
Redeemer: 5 People
Retaliator: 5 People

See the sliding scale here? :)

Nkato has a valid point, bu t its important to remember that you should be picking ships based on how you intend to play; in addition to delivering troops, the Redeemer will likely be an excellent gunship and escort craft. Similarly, the vanguard will potentially see use not only has a heavy fighter but also as a scout or blockade runner. Unmelt the one that gives you the opportunity to play what you think you'll enjoy.

well what i really didnt realize is that the retaliator and the redeemer has the same exact crew requirement. i have a team that intends to join me as gunners and marines that i collected from other MMO's i play. If i knew the Redeemer was able to be flown singly (without the turrets) i woulda grabbed it in a heartbeat, but im concerned that if it isnt, the vanguard would fill that 1-2 pilot role. I mean, the Redeemer woulda been my first pick, but i dont think they have said much about the piloting requirements of the redeemer yet.

The Retaliator has a dropship module and five turrets, which makes it similar to the Redeemer in a manner of speaking, so that's why I think the Vanguard is your best choice.

Is this unmelting business actually safe to do these days? I keep hearing about it, but to be honest,a bit too scared to try it out with my rare little shipies, due to serious lack of funds.

If you can avoid melting your ships in the first place. If you melted some LTI stuff, you can put in a request to unmelt them, if you have the store credit to pay for it. However, they don't officially offer this as a service. :p

Not the*exact* same, but close enough. Retaliator has a crew of seven fully staffed, Redeemer tops out at five, but they're in the same general range.

VANGUARD! Though I admit Redeemer is a tempting ship, its just not as shiny and good to have as the Vanguard. The redeemer is a decent ship in its capacity as a troop transport while the Vanguard is the epic in its capacity as a fighter.

It is like comparing a hull C as a transport i.e redeemer to a Carrack for scanning.. the Vanguard is afaik the best in its category while the redeemer is not.

I say wait until the Redeemer is flyable and then decide. A lot of people seem to give it shit, but it could be a fucking beast.

Also there should be a 0$ Vanguard -> Redeemer CCU once they both are flyable, since they are both 250 bones a pop.

thats good point! so it wont really matter. idk, im lookign into the probability that i might be able to raise them both from the dead. but should i not be able to, i know someone who has a normal redeemer, ill grab the vanguard for now and should the redeemer be OP, ill go ahead and CCU it.

Is this going to be actually like this? Because...if the Redeemer gets updated, I might just keep it... Even if I'd love a tali, but I guess in between the two, this Redeemer would be it for me.

Yep. A few days after the Redeemer got released, CIG announced they were updating the armaments, adding in (at the time) 2 fixed S1 weapons and 2 twin remote operated S4 cannons. Not updated on stats page or on the model however.

I think the redeemer is the only LTI ship I had passed on, but if I had to pick between a Retailator and Redeemer, I would go with the Redeemer.

+its smaller
+heavy frontal fire power that is useable by the pilot
+can be manned by less crew
+should be more maneuverable

but if you like the idea of dropping the biggest torpedoes that can be carried by non capital sized ships, retailator is your only choice (currently)
