As a new member, I love the fun easy going atmosphere here. But I have a question: [Please don't take the following question as a sign of stick-up-ass syndrome as humor and fun are typically my primary concerns in life. Nor as judgement - I love what I've seen so far.]

I wonder - is TEST always all about finding the goofiest thing in the game and doing it? Running left if the arrow points right? I mean, that can be a lot of fun...sometimes. Sometimes, it's also fun to take the road most traveled (it's usually traveled most for a reason). Or to roleplay. Or to fight the Vanduul instead of protect them. Or to just do some mining without wearing a pink tutu while scream-singing "Over the Rainbow". Youknowwhatimean?

Is there any place in the org for more..."normal" [insert definithion here] play?

Yep. We have people that are super serious then people who only fly inverted and in reverse here. Both can find a home here

We have members that cover the entire spectrum.

We have some of the most hardcore players, members who constantly reach the top of the leaderboards, and some of the most serious theory-crafters out there. We also have some of the most laid back members who are just waiting around for the game to come out. We have drunks. We have pirates. We have spais, we have it all!

You'll find your place and people that are similar :)

There was a great post on this earlier this month. There is a time to play around and a time to be serious. The active members of this organization are so broad, as everyone above mentioned, that we cover every aspect of this game.

Having a beer and crashing a ship into the sun... that's bonus points and marketing.

You know if you take Swedish fish and put it in a vodka bottle and seal the lid with some tape and pop it in the dishwasher you get some pretty amazing Vodka!!

I'd like to point out on a more serious note that a lot of people here spend a very large amount of cash (in most normal people's sense, enough to literally buy new cars instead of new space ships). Any place where you can gather together and relax and have a good time and basically live, means that you're comfortable enough that you can be serious enough to game hard enough to say...I don't know...create and manage an empire, perhaps.

I think you're in the right place my friend, but the fact that you had to ask makes me wonder... are YOU a spai?

I equate it to this:

I am a responsible adult with a full time day job, pay my bills on time, help my friends when they need support, and love my family. I will not do anything to jeopardize that.

But if a someone says, "Let's go to the toy store, buy a couple of large inflatable squeaky hammers, then duel with each other around the mall," I'll reply, "Should we make the cardboard body armor at home or fashion it there?"

And although I don't always say it out loud, I still think, "That's what she said," at the end of every sentence.


Or, a good in-game example... When I was getting ganged up on by a couple Hornets, Draugr Bearblood killed them both while saying, "No one shoots at my friends... Except me!"

Personally, I plan on doing both. Shenanigans are fun, but even that gets old. That's why you pull them sparingly, when the time is right.

Honestly, the whole "TEST is stupid drunks that do dumb shit" is just our marketing tactic. What TEST really plans on doing is FUN stuff. If that means role-playing and being super cereal, then we're on it.

If it means crashing Auroras into people's fancy expensive ships, then we're already way ahead of the curve.

There is room for any and all playstyles; I will be participating in them all.

We all want to do what is fun. We'll joke around, fly stupid etc but I'd like to think we all know where the line is and not cross it. Aside from that I think everyone here knows that fun is great and what we all want but when its time to get down to business then we can also have serious fun time.

I like to troll and joke mostly, but I still get a bit serious when theorycrafting and assessing when further theorycrafting can be useful.
I'm an EVE player, so I have my share of fears regarding timezone warfare and territory holding (referred to as cancebolaids).
As for the spectrum that Egriz mentioned, I think that I'm somewhere from 20 to 30. I got diagnosed almost twenty years ago, which was before it was measured like that.

To answer your question, nope - not a spai. If I were a spai, I would admit it. I'm dumb like that.

But I've heard that TESTies are so cool and weird that they accept spais with open arms. My understanding is that it freaks them the hell out so much, sometimes it's enough to convert them. Which confirms my suspicion that TEST is actually a cult. A really really drunk cult.

No one shares stories about the "normal" time they played the game "regularly". But that doesn't mean we don't do it. I plan to be mostly serious when the PU is released. For me, its kinda hard to be "serious" in AC because A) I'm not that good at it and B) it does get kinda repetitive after a while

are you asking if we will also take the game serious, like some of the more hard core gamers orgs out there, then yes, yes we will. We all hang out as testies because that i who we identify with, at this moment, and this is where we call home and can drink all the beer we want ! But really, there will be alot of mature and serious play, alot of following the road most travelled, within test.

I'm a part of test because I just don't fit in anywhere else.

I'm in the game to have fun. That currently means streaming - both serious racing, serious dogfighting and cutlass racing.
In the persistent universe, I'm going to be available as an escort for legitimate industry and will be doing a whole lot of multi-crew exploration!

I'll also probably be crashing my largest ships into suns. For the laughs and the salt.
