For those more serious players who plan to take part in different fleet ops. something like this will definitely be needed. I agree that it shouldn't be mandatory for everyone but for those who want to take part in the more serious roles of combat and flying in formations will need a bit of training. I'd love to see TESTies flying like the Blue Angels in the 'verse one day.

TEST doesn't make anyone do anything. TEST doesn't even strongly recommend you do anything. People that are in TEST tend to be in the same vein, so they will naturally play similarly. If anyone wants to bitch at me because TEST didn't do X, well, they can Stfu or gtfo.
If you want help, ask for it. I'm sure there will be 50 people ready to lend a hand. Or just do whatever.

Having some equivalent to EVE nullsec intel maps couldn't hurt. The hassle would be in getting people to use them.
Also, encouraging people flying together as much as possible can't hurt. Throughout history, the most winning pvp strategy has been outnumbering them.

This just makes sense to me. Unless you're absolutely certain you're safe, or don't care about getting blown up/pirated, always try to find a wingman. With 2 sets of eyes, you're twice as likely to notice something.

It's about fun, more than anything. Waiting around for someone to join you won't always be fun. If you've got some guys ready to roll, sure, go ahead! But if you're making your regular run and get blown up and killed, it's not a big deal, it's just a game and you're insured.
However, those conditions seem fine, we don't want to die when doing TEST stuff, and we want to control how often we fight and/or die so knowing if there's threats nearby, and being prepared, is reasonable. Let me know if you need help with any of this, and I'd be happy to back a TESTie up and make a pair.
