Does anyone have experience in the Navy? Is being on a ship as bad as it is rumored to be?

TBH this isn't just something I've half halfheartedly came up with. Been looking into different branches of the military all my life and always held a favoritism towards the Navy. I feel like now is the time before I pass my prime. Cut off age for enlisting is 28 after all. Turning 23 this year.

Come at me BUD/S.

Ok well you are in luck.

I am actually getting out of the navy in three months.
If you want you can PM me or write any questions you have here and i can share the answers.

1. I am not a recruiter and i am not going to lie to you.
2. I am not going to use my name because i can get into some serious shit if someone reports my answers to my superiors.
3. I AM NOT GOING TO LIE TO YOU (some shit is pretty tough in the military)

No HERESY involved, i am dead serious on this subject.
Joining the military shouldn't be taken lightly or blindly.

Get as much information as possible before joining and don't let a
recruiter ramrod you into a billet that you haven't researched or
don't feel to sure about.

A big group of my buddies are in some crappy jobs right now
because they didn't know, or their recruiter lied to them.

DON'T let the recruiter tell you that you have a limited time to sign up
for a job. You can always come back, so do your research before you
sign a contract.

Ask anyone and everyone with any REAL(no reserves sorry)
military experience around you for advice this includes:
Your mom
Your dad
Your current employer
A former employer
A teacher (college or high-school)
A friend
A neighbor
That guy down the road..... you know, the one always screaming HERESY

GET A SPECIFIC JOB.

Don't let them tell you that you can get any job you want if you
strike for a job (basically going in without any rate (job) at all).

oh and since i haven't stressed it enough

RESEARCH
RESEARCH
RESEARCH

IF YOU FUCK IT UP YOU ARE STUCK WITH YOUR CHOICE FOR YEARS.

no pressure or anything......

Thanks guys. Was kidding about BUDS though. I don't intend to become a SEAL by any means.

If there's a job available as a MC (Mass Communications Specialist), then I'm all over that.
Basically they deal with journalism, photography, layout/typesetting for magazines, newspapers, photo/video editing, and print/web design.

So pretty much right up my alley. \o/
