i might give eve a go. im way too poor to subscribe. but ill give it a go for while. Can someone give me some 1st day advice here
Get a ship, get a crew, get paid.

I found mining and combat missions to be the best income for starting out.Do all of the tutorial missions in the station you start out at.

I fly in exclusively Caldari and Amarr space. Amarr might be the best choice for beginner mission running because they don't consume ammo, but I like my missle boats (Caldari).

I used to fly nothing but green, and only blaster boats if I had the option, but that ended up being both a good *and* bad thing, because Blasters is what I WANTED to fly, but Drones were the way of the Gallente, apparently, and I did not enjoy being a Drone boat.

I liked Lasers and loved Hull tanking, but the Amarr damage profile was always "not as good" wherever I was flying, and my love for armor tanking meant flying Rust was difficult because all their better ships were shield tanked.

Ffffffffffff.

I'm thinking about starting a new trial account, though. Really do want to start over with a new name and a new chance to define myself, and then just go exclusively Rust. Trust the Rust, as it's always ALWAYS been my faction of choice.

With maybe the tiniest bit of pew pew lasers...

No matter where you go or who you join(dreddit is recruiting) I would highly recommend nd you join a pvp corp. for most eve players pve is a means to fuel their need for things to go boom. And when you PvP you never fly what you cannot afford and that you treat your ships like ammo.

Missiles would be the way to go for missions. The only time they're wasted is if you're shooting out of range. Until you get your gun skills up you could waste a lot of ammo. That and you could easily switch damage types with missiles. Most guns can't do that.

Also, look up the eve mission guide. It gives step by step to help with missions. Including resistance needed and damage type. If I remember I'll look it up and link it later.

Plus, let's not discount the REAL PvP of the game: the market. ;) Do a search for "station trading in Eve Online", and see if that might be something you are into, instead of ship-combat. It takes a bit to get going, but definitely worth considering after your 1-month trial in the face of countless hours mining 'roids or mind-numbing L4 missions. Let your money do the work!

30-second spiel: players with loads of ISK are coming off high level missions, and want to get back into the battle asap, so they typically unload their mission loot for abysmally low prices instead of taking up their valuable time setting up market-competitive sell orders. That's where buyers (station traders) set up low-ball offers, competing against other station traders to buy the loot & resell it at a more competitive rate. TAKES TIME, but it has potential to be much more lucrative solo-player experience than running missions, ratting, & roiding.

OH! and pick up a copy of EveMon. With this precious little utility, you can pick a specific ship / gear / playstyle, and it will list all skills needed to attain it.

And Eve Fitting Tool (EFT). It helps a lot with fitting a ship without spending the ISK to find out it doesn't fit properly. Battleclinic is also a good place to look fits and rating given by other players.

EDIT:
+ EVE Online Survival Guide - Use it for missions, it provides a ton of information that could save your ship/isk.
+ Evemon - Character training planner.
+ EFT - Eve fitting tool. Use it to save fittings, design new ship fit, and stats. Just an all around good tool to have.
