To prevent confusion.Naglfar. So much Naglfar.
Oh god dammit. This is what I get for posting whilst under the influence of tired. To prevent confusion.
The concept art that Flipper posted is is not the Banu Merchantman. Instead it is the new concept art for a Xi'an capital ship. Currently there is no concept art for the Banu Merchantman.
The specs thing is a good point. This far out of alpha, let alone beta, let alone release, aside from initial models and a basic idea of what role the developers want each ship to fill, metagaming should only be done for shits and giggles. That said, it is a little annoying trying to determine if the Gladiator is a good alternative to a Cutlass or not, or if they're even comparable.Came to the conclusion an Idris is out of the question today so the Merchantmen will probably be a nice alternative. Can't really say until I see some specs but I'd like a nice sturdy hauler to supplement the Faction. M50 comes first though!
I understand that coming from you. You're getting the Idris. Not for me, I was never into vertical ships.
I'm not biased to one style of ship I guess. It's more about functionality at the end of the day. I feel like this ship will do much better with solid goods than the starfarer, possibly with a larger capacity. Seems (if the lore applies) this should be one hardy boat to operate around Vanduul space! Not for me, I was never into vertical ships.
Yeah the picture I linked is a Xi'an ship... sorry...If that picture is accurate, then this thing is way bigger than the Starfarer by several magnitudes!
At these prices, I'd be up for buying 1/5 of such a ship in exchange for a partial owner's share in profits (either in-game merchanting or out-of-game resell) and the opportunity to occasionally crew or fly the thing. I'd be happy to run escort for such an operation in my Super Hornet. It's an intriguing idea for a ship (the whole vertical thing), but there's a very good chance it'll cost as much as $250. I'd be very surprised if it cost any less than a Constellation, and I'm pretty sure the Starfarer was $250.
Keep in mind that after a month or two of mission running, you might be able to afford such a ship in-game.At these prices, I'd be up for buying 1/5 of such a ship in exchange for a partial owner's share in profits
Understood and agreed, but the Banu is one of those ships that I imagine you'd be unlikely to acquire in-game, unless I've entirely misunderstood things.Keep in mind that after a month or two of mission running, you might be able to afford such a ship in-game.
I can see way too many people loading up their credit cards because they want all the ships, but by doing that you are taking away one of the great incentives of the game, to work towards a bigger ship!
Understood. I've been assuming it wasn't exactly a captured ship, but might be a rarer hull/blueprint given its alien origin. You can acquire all of the ships they have offered in-game.
LOL you got it absolutely right!RSI has invented a very good mini-game, though, in this pre-game ship collecting thing they have going.
