I'm posting this while being very mentally - and emotionally - fatigued, what with the mess I've had to deal with this month, in addition to the exams this week. So, I apologize for the out-of-format post here.

I'm looking around at other organizations to join in about six months, if things don't pan out with my current plans. Here's what I'm looking for:

  1. Highly tolerant people who are able to adapt to those with disabilities (Yes, I'm Deaf). That means it'd be pretty cool if there was an organization that would just not balk at the idea of having a communications officer dedicated to relaying information to Deaf gamers. Christ, I can't stress this enough.
  2. The ability to plan major fleet operations and strategics. Basically, what I want to do is be in a command role at some point in time. Preferably without people being dickwads about my disability or the "oh, you're just a number" mentality. (I actually have several mission plans and formats written out in my Star Citizen document folder.)
  3. A leadership structure that isn't opaque, and adheres to the principles of the organization they run. Basically, people who think before they leap; and are more willing to stand by their more "unconventional" members. (Three guesses as to what this hints at, and the first two don't count.)

The reason I'm posting here is because I've had experience as a member of Dreddit in EVE Online, and I've found them to be a much more...agreeable bunch than the usual type of people I encounter in other games. I hope this holds true at TEST Squadron, as well.

While I like a little bit of humor here and there, I'm kind of the type of person that appreciates people who engage in good faith when engaged thusly. That is to say, I'm not the type that likes to deal with nonsense day in, day out, on a near constant basis just because some kids thought it was hilarious. Time and place for everything, ya know?

I'm 30 years old, and I've got a lot going on in the first place.

Tell me about TEST Squadron.

Edit: Oh , and as an aside; people will find me intense, aggressive, lacking for tact, and so forth. If that's a problem, just say so.

Edit2: And additionally, I'd choose Kirk for the tactical; Picard for the strategic.

Well, my opinion:

1) I don't see way this can be a issue, at least I don't have problem on passing on the command data.

2) I think that a command post on logistical or some not direct battle related command position can be worked, but in direct combat where good communication is required that can be a problem, each one need to know her limit and where is more useful to the group.

My wife have the same disability and on my opinion that is not a problem to have a normal life.

About character attributes, well, if you are aggressive on the good way, if your lacking of tact is not lacking of respect, and so forth, then, way is this a problem? Of course, if you are aggressive and disrespectfully, then is not good.

That said, I'm not an officer on the squadron, right now I'm only a simple pilot :D, so my opinion are that and only that, good lock and Welcome

Hi welcome NKato.

I don't see a reason for worrying a whole bunch about tolerance. In fact, I'd say we're about as tolerant as goes, since we're all supposedly useless :p There's jokes, but I have yet to see anyone be malicious. I personally joined here to be part of a warm, open and liberal community.

If you have a look around this forum, it's completely flooded with monkeys, so I'm more worried about if you'll accept us. There's relatively little to talk about at this stage, so stuff might change, but if you expect a strict command structure here with whipping bosses, then this is deffo not the place.

But so urh, what kind of games do you usually play?

I usually play War Thunder, Warframe, and have a preference for the tactical and strategic aspect of things. I also have a small clan in Warframe, about four members, though only two or three are active at the moment. It's a casual thing.

However, I get really, really serious when it comes to teamplay, because teamplay is one of my passions. When I see a team work together beautifully to achieve an optimal result, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. On the contrary, when someone goes and derps off like a fuckwit (for example, leaving an entire flank unguarded in World of Tanks), and we get rolled like a bunch of dead otters, I'm more prone to losing my temper.

I'm fine with monkeys running around, as long as they don't bungle an operation on purpose. I've been in Dreddit fleets in EVE, so I know how difficult it can be - it's like herding cats.

I'm interested in TEST Squadron because I'm looking for people who are willing to give me a shot in a command role, for once, as opposed to forcing me to be simply just another "number". I've spent the last 10 years trying to climb the ladder in guilds, only to deal with snowflakes who scream and whine at every single phrase I utter, because I come as harsh. The most common end result of late, has been me getting expelled from those guilds just because the leaders don't know, or can't deal with helping me improve how I interact with others (or simply bother to tolerate).

It doesn't help that a massive amount of gamers have become overly reliant on voice communications. This puts me out in the cold, as a Deaf gamer, and I've gotten pretty sick of guilds getting sloppy on coming up with solutions. Even Speech to Text programs are unreliable (and are oft the most suggested solution, which I immediately shoot down).

I've noticed of late that people have begun to comment that I resemble autistic people, even though I've never been diagnosed with anything but Celiac Disease and ADHD. Maybe it's just me being somewhat maladjusted socially for the last 13 years.

Oh, I should also add: Don't ask me to be a political leader. That is never going to be my thing. Ever. I don't like politics; too much backstabbery and compromising of values & principles...

To answer your question in bold, I tend to be lacking of tact for the most part. Here's an example...which got me booted from my previous organization. Surprise, surprise.

Hello friend and welcome to Test!

Nice to see more fellow* dreddit members joining :)

To answer your points:

1. I will assure you that I will adapt as much as I can to ensure that anyone who needs any help is accommodated. From my understating Test Alliance in Eve had a deaf FC and whenever someone in a fleet mentioned they were deaf many volunteered to transcribe all FC orders. That was because it was easy in Eve. Eve had an in game quick access, multiple tab, chat box, and FC commands were all visually visible on the HUD. If SC comes close to Eve in terms of its FC tools then it will be just as easy here. If not then I think if you run TS with overlay then someone with dual monitor will be able to transcribe everything. I would guess people in larger and slower ships would have an easier time doing this.

2. This is great! We need more people who want to accept the responsibility of leadership. I plan to run 501st and advise on military and diplomatic decisions. I don't think your disability will have any adverse effects on your strategic capabilities. Basically (from my point of view) all we would have to do to "accommodate" would be to have a text chat as well.

3. Currently, our leadership structure is pretty transparent and it's just a bunch of people talking with each other about making decisions. When the game launches and we see what we are dealing with, I expect our leadership structure to get stricter but never the less, have the same flexibility. Regarding your hint, I think we are pretty willing to stand by our unconventional members but I am really not getting your reference here.

Oh, and regarding your issue with "tactfulness" as you put it yourself. As long as you don't cause any diplomatic disasters I fail to see how it could be bad. There is a difference between being honest, being aggressive, or trolling. From your post I don't think you are the trolling type. I would say please try and don't be too aggressive. As you put it yourself, "do to others as you would have them do to you."

One thing: I saw in the post you linked that someone accused you of sending death threats. I don't want to know what that was about, or even if it is true. That is something in the past and all it is to me is an accusation. Just a fair warning that I personally never tolerate death threats or the like. There are lines which should never be crossed.

just because the leaders don't know, or can't deal with helping me improve how I interact with others (or simply bother to tolerate).
I just re-read and noticed you saying this. If this is something you seriously want to improve and are actively trying, I will help you if you would like. If my suggestion is offensive I apologize, it is just how I read and understood your post.

*I say fellow but I'm probably not in dreddit anymore. I stopped playing eve for the fifth time a month ago.
