Not sure if much has been said on this "officially", but I was curious if anyone here could point me in the right direction. Has anything been said by CIG along the lines of combating anyone and everyone from simply quantum jumping away when a fight turns south?

I know 2.0 isn't the greatest example because it's only the basics and a starting point, but there have been many occasions where I've chipped away at say a Connie in my Super Hornet to the point where it's almost destroyed just to have them quantum jump back to Port Olisar. I was just wondering if CIG had announced any even very rudimentary plans on how we might "tackle" (think EVE) ships to prevent them from jumping.

Targeting of specific components and more so the EMP weaponry that will disable systems. But yeah, there is a ton of literature by CIG on this, just got to dig for it.

EMP, yes. But... EMP seems much more like a utility role that only some ships will ever have, so it'd be possibly the exception not the rule. And, excuse my ignorance on this one, but how will targeting components on all but the largest ships make any difference? Traveling at the speeds most of the dogfights happen at, and with such small cross-sections (I'm talking single-seaters and small multi-crew), I can't picture how any but the most elite pilots could get effective fire on a specific subsystem of a ship.

Take a Hornet vs. Hornet fight, for example. Most of the time your targeting pip is the size of the entire ship when at dogfighting distances. Without EMP, how could you ever expect to stop a QD jump to escape a fight?

They've said that if you're getting shot during the spool up time, it cancels then jump. Because you have to be flying in a straight line for a few seconds to jump, someone would have a good shot at stopping you.

And there's the answer! Awesome, thanks.

I think if this becomes a proper problem with people just jumping away, the simple solution would be to increase spool time on the drives, and possibly have it drop the shields breifly before the jump? (though im less keen on the second part)

This is where the m50 interceptor comes into role. Hard to hit and can come in and out of range at its own pace, and does just enough damage to stop you from jumping.

It hasn't worked for me yet, but the following 4 simple steps have:
1) Stop screaming
2) Change IFCS to CRU and floor it
3) Change space diaper
4) Go to the bar and change the story around to make you look like a hero

I have a Warlock, which seemed like a nifty thing to have, but evidently I don't know how to use it correctly. I can only imagine that it would be used to wolf pack a large vessel with your fellow wolves standing off out of range until after you trigger the device and attacking while you recover. It has proven useless in a dogfight. Disclaimer: as a pilot, I am pretty useless in a dogfight, too.
