So my Turtle Beach X7 headphones had the plastic holding the ear cup broke and I think I may need to get new headphones. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I could probably reattach the earcup to the holder, but I've tried both superglue and plastic glue. Neither will hold a bond. Any recommendations on that front would be appreciated as well.

I was looking at V-MODA Crossfade M-100s, but not sure if I want to spend that much and not sure how good they are.

Honestly you may want to look into getting a set of headphones and then a mic to go with them :) my personal setup is a sennheiser HD518 paired with a uni directional modmic from antlion all in all a setup like that will set you back about $100 but something like that will get you better audio quality all around.

Completely agree with everyone saying to buy headphones and mic separately. I've heard good things about Boom-Mic (Seung mentioned, but I've never tried it myself).

I'm kinda an Audio Technica fanboy, so take that into consideration. But I've been using ATH-M50s for around 4 years and only just recently needed to get a new pair only because the old ear cuff material was wearing out. I could have easily replaced it, but the newer model was out so I decided to get em.

Everyone recommending Sennheisers are also spot on as far as sound quality. The Sennheisers actually come in slightly above the ATH-M50s in almost every sound quality test IIRC (meaning people choosing which sounds better), but they are a little more expensive.

I don't have much experience with the V-Modas except for having an old friend who swears by em, so I can't speak too much to em.

If you have a dedicated sound card, you may consider Razer Tiamat 7.1 -- http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-audio/razer-tiamat-71

It's 7.1 surround, which is really amazing for knowing if that sound is behind you on the left, or directly left, or in front of you on the left.

They fit over the ear, which I find comfortable, but my brother has bigger ears than me and he doesn't like it.

If you have moderate ear size and a dedicated sound card with analog outputs, it's hard to go wrong with these. The only downside is they're fairly expensive.

I have the V-moda LPs. Less expensive than the m-100s, and still sound great. The m-100s do have a bit better sound though, but to me it's only noticeable when watching movies.

I also argue strongly against the Razer Tiamat. I've owned three, all three failed within 60 days. If you want to go that route, I'd recommend corsair's new line of headphones, super comfy, good positional audio.

My personal set up though is an external sound cart I got for $10 because all my onboard fried, the V-moda LPs, and a blue snowball mic. Desk mic + headphones are the way to go imo. about $200 total for mic and headphones if you catch them on a sale. Sometimes less.

Try roughing up the surfaces, and a 2 part epoxy(or gorrilla glue) might yield better results than superglue. Good luck!
And if you go the gorilla glue route make sure the get the surface wet as well :) it helps the glue and expands it!

I've never had anything but trouble with turtle beach stuff. :/ I use Logitech something or another right now and no complaints. Cheap and reasonable sound quality.

I have the V-MODA M-100s and they are a blast, my favorite feature is that you can turn it into a headset by using their boom mic (http://v-moda.com/boompro-microphone/).

However, if you are looking for cheaper ATH-M50s are also excellent!
Can confirm Boom Pro Mic works well. Not super high-end but its durable and a very clear sound. as for the m-100's, another awesome suggestion. I use the BoomPro Mic and the Crossfade Wireless headset (which uses the M-100 Drivers) and they sound great for gaming, music, and yes... Discord! Before the holiday season start in 2015, I had been using a pair of V-moda crossfades (their entry level over the ears) and those things took a beatings for 4 years strong, including international travel, daily 6+ hours of use and are comfortable as heck at the cost of a little weight on the head. If you want a tanky and quality set of over-the-ears, V-moda would definitely be my recommendation.

I've decided to go with the Hd598. It did appear the best for what I want. And the x7s would have cost the same to replace the headset.

I don't think I want to jerk around fixing mine because it wasn't a clean break and it is a pretty cheap plastic. They've only lasted 2 years with moderate use.

I do have a dedicated audio card, but usually shy from anything made by Razer, they're just overpriced and flashy for what they do. Although I do wish I could get a Blackwidow Chroma keyboard.

I still have my Turtle Beach mic, so might hold off on getting a Blue Snowball.

So I did a little more reading and people have said you can use the audio control unit from the XP Seven with pretty much any headphones. Which I can confirm as I'm currently using some Skullcandy earbuds.

A few have also said if you put an amp between the ACU and the new phones that it's much better quality. I know nothing about amps and such. Can anyone explain to me what that would do?

I'll just be using the sennheiserHD598s with the ACU when I get them. Most people have said that's the best piece of equipment in the XP Seven set.
