@CrudeSasquatch has a couple ships. One is a package. They were both gifts. He has no backer standing. So . . does he need to buy a package? Or a ship?

Hey guys!
I have a lot of ships that were gifted to me... and I want to know how to become an "official" backup person... you know.. like.. I spend all my money in high school on Chris Roberts games, but apparently having all the Wing Commanders and Privateers don't really change your "Star Citizen" status.
So I want to be "official" now....
I want to be "a citizen"...
I want the right to "have children"
and "squash the bugs"
but do I need to get "another package"
or do I just need to get 'a ship'

I think you get the "title" backer when you financially support the game. By buying a ship or a package with your own money. However on the question to buy a ship or package i don't know.....

Simply - Just spend at least $5 in the Pledge store.
You can get posters, fish, anything.
$5 is the minimum Pledge to become a Backer.

We made a deal that I can spend 100$ ON HIS Credit card, and I'd get a ship worth the same amount, because that's what he spent. I managed to delay his decision (impulse) until I could get some information.
Don't get me wrong. i like Chris Roberts and his games
but I also like watching @Blind Owl 's kids graduate college....

So what's the cheapest shit in the galaxy (that's worth flying?) that I can buy?

My kid has a college fund. You pay it. Every month. ;)

He has a Blue. Good all purpose ship. Thinking avenger or gladius for him. Something fun to fight in. Just my thoughts though.

There is no cheap shit but if you want a good general purpose ship under $100, may I recommend the 316P.
It has a Tractor beam on the nose (can be removed and a weapon added) and will be great for exploring in stystem. Also, can carry some cargo.
I have used mine and still do.
Just a suggestion.

OK, Cosmic, if I have gifted @CrudeSasquatch a ship, and he spends money his money to CCU it, will it give him backer status? I know you said any amount of money spent should do it, I just wanna be sure. He's got over 200 worth of ships, lol, but they're all gifted.

Naw, he's just trying to get backer status period. He doesn't have it at all, as all his ships/packages were gifts. As he doesn't have backer status, he can't play in the PTU, just the PU. We'll buy a ship on his account today sometime, and he'll be good.

Or upgrade his Cutty Blue. I don't know if he likes it that much. But then, the Cutty IS getting redone. So many decisions. Haha.

I recommend buying the Mustang Beta. Tiny space apartment, complete with restroom, bed, couch, kitchen, walk in closet, and respectable defensive abilities.
