Ok, rant mode on.
I'm sure that I'm not alone amongst us in finding this week's 10 for the Chairman extremely heartening. I was left smiling by Chris Roberts' positive attitude and his explanation that they would be releasing the game as commercially ready as soon as the core features (minimum viable product) were in place, with ongoing development to implement the remaining promised features and more. Excellent. Sensible plan!
Then I made the mistake of googling the web a few hours later and oh boy were the haters out in force (Derek Smart being a prime example. Damn that man has a hate-hardon for Star Citizen. To the point that he comes over as more than a little disturbed). Chris's 'Minimum Viable Product' line has been taken completely out of context in a great example of how a single sound-bite can be extracted from a message and used as the whole story. Star Citizen is doomed. Chris Roberts is throwing in the towel. Yada bloody yada.
So, if you get wound up quite easily by sensationalist journalism then I advise you to stick to the main sites for a while. The signal to noise ratio is just too damned low if you stick your head over the parapet at the moment.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm switching rant-mode off and going for nice long walk. :)
Float.
