Hi fellow Testies. If you havnt read or heard by now we lost one of our long time members and friend, Cosmic Trader. Please read this thread for more info -> Paging CosmicTrader, if you see this please drop in! | TEST Squadron - Premier Star Citizen Organization
I'd like to petition that our first in game station (ground or space) bear either his name or a suitable name to memorialize our fellow org members who have passed on while actively backing this game. I'm not sure how this would work, if we will be able to eventually craft signs or something similar to write on to give some context to the naming of stations or locations, but it feels like a proper thing to do. For a lot of folks, this community is their family, and regardless if you knew them in person or only through the game, there is always a sadness at the loss and a need to morn in our own fashion. I believe a location or station named after our fallen comrades will help us remember and cope with those feelings. In that spirit, are there any names or titles you would suggest for a memorial in game?

I agree, super common in Eve for alliance structures to be named after people who died, like my alliance Brave's "Mothership Bellicose", I think TEST should do the same as well when player structures are in place.

I agree with a memorial to backers who didn't make it to launch.

The problem is how can we tell who passed on, who is on a break and who gave up but is still in the land of the living?

So my suggestion is a mausoleum planet where all backers are commemorated. All of us. It's set 930 years in the future it's really unlikely any of us are going to make it to 2955 so put us all in there. For backers who have been known to pass away, we can visit and leave memorials and tributes. For those who disappear we can visit and pay our respects and for the rest of the faceless masses both live or unknowingly no longer with us, there is an in-game tribute to them forever and always. (As long as the game servers are running.)

A mausoleum containing the living sounds a little morbid really but it's the only way I can think of doing it.

Another way I've just thought of may be having the names of all the backers written on pebbles on a beach in game. When someone passes away it can be a place for mourners to congregate and commemorate a life lived while not necessarily being able to find the particular pebble... quite apt really, as the person had just been lost and so their pebble, while there at the shore, would be all but lost too...

Something like that which can include all backers lost, both known and unknown, would be really quite special.
