Ah well, support crew is always needed.
That being said, how many Starfarers does it take to refuel an Odin?
More ore less than it takes tankards of beer to refuel an Odins Captain?
Riiight!
I'll supply the beer!
That shall grant me a place in the crew, right?
Come to think of it though....
with this Org...
BUYING an Odin might be cheaper than buying beer for the crew...
Gotta calculate that real quick...

Did some calculating.
Odin at 5000$ a pop.
Cost for development.
As in teamsize, infrastructure and aforemntioned booze for those involved.
The need to extract an actual dollar or two from this hype.
Also some spare money needed because you never know if the concept doesn't go into overtime.
Rule of thumb they need to sell at least a thousand of those monsters.
And once they do they need new servers for giving people an actual chance to creww two or more and duke it out in the actual game.
Suddenly the cost for a round of drinks seems like the least of my problems.
The Odin seems to be the kind of ship that the Endeavor and Merchantman are.
The "One day for sure" kind...
You guys sure you wanna go down that road again?
I'm not judging.
But I'd avoid getting into trouble with the wife over something that might turn into a pipe dream.

I feel bad for @Stevetank and anyone else who put effort into their applications, deserve a chance to compete for an Odin and genuinely want to buy one. Let's hope they will all get acceptance emails in time for the sale.

There are some very funny Reddit posts like this one (probably elsewhere too) showing the unserious applications which have been 'accepted' after 'careful consideration'. If the comment on that post about someone submitting a chicken soup recipe and still being accepted was true, hats off to them. And yes, practically none of those joke applications that got accepted will result in an actual attempt to buy one, so they won't be in the presumed F5 wars when the waves open up on 24 May.

Being silly is part of this game like it's part of practically any other, we're all here to have fun, and I can't blame folks for doing that. I bet everyone genuinely willing to pay for an Odin will get a chance to pledge for one before it's flyable and I'm reasonably sure anyone serious about it will succeed in pledging for one sooner or later - maybe not this DefenceCon, but at a future sale event. But if CIG weren't able to review and consider all the applications they got carefully, it's manipulative to try to make recipients of the acceptance email feel specially chosen, and the folks they're manipulating in this case are likely their most generous backers.

That's not funny.

Unfortunately, CIG has already noted that if you have not heard from them, you were not selected...

complete speculation, but maybe they left out some folks because they have an option for the complete pack nd older ships that have grown significantly in value for ccs, but low value melt…in other words, collectors that would melt their 350 buck carrack instead of exchanging it for a Tiburon…especially those that tend to “collect” ships.

makes me really wonder…
