R key until you get dotted circles in the HUD which is the active area.

I find putting the gimbal on auto-aim and fire-and-forgetting leaving it running, and concentrate on aiming with the nose guns works better for me than any other tactic i've tried. Also: missiles. I always forget about them but they are there to be used.

It's a very capable ship. A lot of pilots seem to be hating the centerline fixed nose guns at the moment but with the QD advantage and the armour and the shields I think she's really got it where it counts. There has to be a little balance so having some slightly impractical guns is a small...

The vanguard has such a fast quantum drive as well, what takes me 15 minutes in AD in a 350R takes less than 10 in my Warden. Declaimer: everything can and will change.

I am crap at combat and the one ship I have flow where I have actually made it back to base alive in is the Vanguard Warden. Try to get a fly in one in AC before putting your money down, it might be awful for your needs where it is awesome for mine :)
