Well, we have weekly events for FPS combat, ship combat, and a few other things... As far as invitation,I think you just send a request on the RSI website. It's somewhere in your settings but I can't for the life of me remember where. I only did it the one time.- Vavrik

I'm thinking the same as @Chip Hazzard. I like the Freelancer DUR. It allows you to participate in exploration when it gets into the game, and while I wouldn't go looking for a fight, it's got a punch.
