Well shit, this is wrong on so many levels.. First the RAM in the "wrong" slot, although I'm not sure what that would be in the case of a single stick. In my experience with old ddr3, it booted with a single stick in any slot, but I think that might have been the odd one out and not the norm...

you can get into this BIOS setup screen by hiting .del or delete after switching on the PC. Should come up every time. Without hitting del you should see the MSI splash screen and then get to a black screen with some error message or at least a dot or something on it. Although I never had MSI...

Also, check if ram and all the rest of the stuff is seated properly, all connectors plugged in properly and so on. I'd guess its either one of the ram sticks bad, or your gpu didn't survive the transplant. That's not uncommon, sadly.
