    Caterpiller vs Carrack

If you want to check out the Cat, I suggest compare it to the StarG. With such a tiny price difference between them, and the StarG actually faster, more heavily armed, and carries 5X the cargo, I can't fall in love with the Cat. I would take a StarG, Carrack or Reclaimer over one for a home...

    A CCU learning expiriance...

I have always recoiled from the linearity of the Connies, as they seem boring and unsurprising to me; but they all have amazing stats and flexibility for such a small ship. You can put lots of people in, or fly it alone. You can haul, scan, fight. . .really it would be simpler to list what the...

I would not put money on that. No matter how one reworks the Cutty, the Connies carry a LOT of S4 weapons. A Cutty might not even last long enough to get in range. Not saying guile cannot succeed where the ships are unmatched, but the Connies are pretty tough nuts to crack.

    Starting at the bottom.

If I had to start with one cheap ship it would be the Warlock. The current iteration of the EMP generator does not knock the Warlock out when you fire it. I dunno what that is all about but that is all full of fun, and should make it easy to add several other ships in a single day. The hard...

Best Escort ship for TEST gameplay

I think this is the second time someone reminded me the ships page is so wrong here. You know, whether a fighter carries missiles or not, and what guns, shields etc. it carries are actually things you ought to know before BUYING one. Sometimes I could just scream with all the stupid on the...

Best Escort ship for TEST gameplay

I think it is true that for a ship to be a general purpose escort, it needs to be long range, which leaves you with the Banu Defender or one of the 4 Vanguards. The Defender will shine if you like to joust, meaning close on an enemy and hit them point blank range; since it can carry 6...

So, why did they talk about catching a capital ships with shields down?

Great stuff here! I think when the entire scan system is in place, meaning they have EM, IR and RCS all working as intended, people will generally tend to scan for EM and IR passively to detect other ships. RCS pulsing can give away your position as easily as obtain another's. Since everyone...

Neat fleet building tool (And my Idris crippling Strike Package)

Yes, but I thought you were describing attacking a group, rearming torps and attacking again. In general, I always envision assaults as very quick affairs, If you do not immobilize a target quickly, they will jump or otherwise escape. I don't think you will ever have time to refit torps and...

What would stop your targets from fleeing? Seems to me either their computers are down or they are not. I am still wondering what to do with the Hurricanes. If you compare then to the Superhornet, it is hard to say it will be better for much of anything. It cannot take a hit like the Hornet...

    Piracy Privateer

CR made some public statements a couple years ago about the criminal justice system, that people would not be able to skirt around criminal status by associations with friends, loaning ships, multi-characters, etc. Obviously there is something important planned because CIG makes their money...

    Design Your Own Home

Given the size of the hangar on the Carrack and Polaris, I would not expect to fit a pair of hornets in anything smaller than an Idris. Of course an Idris would make a cool trade platform, especially if it can land, and we will be selling only slightly used Idris P at reasonable prices.

    Design Your Own Home

I don't think the BMM has a hangar, but the 890J is expected to be a militarily capable ship. I have always been impressed they planned more weapons in from the start than a Carrack. Sounds like the Endeavor might work for you.

    Design Your Own Home

If you had your druthers and could design one ship to live out of, what would it be like? Post your delusions. . .er, I mean thoughts here. What I wish I had would be sized between the Prowler and Polaris: the Aegis "Black-Heart" class stealth assault transport. It is patterned after the...

Neat fleet building tool (And my Idris crippling Strike Package)

Let us know! I have often wondered what 4 Pyros on a Sabre would be like. You have to be able to get close, but the Sabre is fast enough that it can almost always control the distance of an engagement. It can strike invisibly from great distance with its missiles, and then shatter targets...

    Piracy Privateer

Yeah, I always thought the main weakness the Prowler has is no missiles, and really you need significant spike capability to drop a ship all at once. Team a single Eclipse with 3 S9 spike torps with a single Prowler and really almost any unescorted ship is at your mercy up to the Polaris class...

    Someone educte me

Yeah, well I think whatever they do, they will want to keep the Black special in some way, and if you could just pull the stasis pods from the Blue and put in whatever you like, what reason would anyone have to fly the Black? Even with the smaller reactor and shields, the Black is gonna be VERY...

Neat fleet building tool (And my Idris crippling Strike Package)

Yeah. Pyros always have that drawback, but on the Polaris you have side turrets that can reach out further, and top turrets to defend against air assault. I think so long as you scout an area first and know there is nothing to breech the Polaris' shields, you can drift around and destroy...
