    SNOWFLAKES!?

If you can turn the snowflake animation off, please do. It is locking up my browser.

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

Yes but what combat pilot would blithely putter along NOT turning the ship and so allow any attacking fighter to fit into a blind spot no larger than the fighter? That's what we're talking about--putting a Hornet into the Polaris tiny blind spot, and as soon as the Polaris turns in any...

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

I think that all is correct, but would note the Polaris was designed to kill fighters. You're going to need a much better plan to kill it with fighters. Just getting past the 3S missiles is going to be a huge challenge.

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

If we were talking about a Javelin, I would agree. We're talking about a Corvette, which is a ship about as fast as a fighter, and even if it rotates only 5*/second, that is enough that a fighter will not be able to stay in its blind spot. Think about what happens at 200 m/s if you change...

Do skills or grinding really matters

The answer does not change because someone like doesn't like the answer. There are no player skills in the game. How many years do people need to get the same answer over and over again? You do understand the reason there are no skills to level in the game? Most MMORPGs are dominated by...

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

This above does not describe the motions of the ships. The faster the Polaris is moving, the faster any change in direction will either throw the Hornet out of the blind spot, or smash it into the side of the Polaris. The blind spot is only as large as a Hornet, and if the Polaris has the...

    Piracy Privateer

Will do! You are number 45 on my list so I think we will be able to form several groups based upon time available, and we certainly need Sentinels.

    Piracy Privateer

That is a really tough call, but if you can take ships, you can take a Carrack. IIRC, it has a huge blind spot out back, so any of them flying alone exploring are easy prey. One nice thing about the Prowler is, you get a loaner Hoplite until it is ready, and that ship is extremely...

    Upgrade to the Reclaimer?

That kind of decision needs to be informed by the interests of the players you connect with. If you meet up with several peeps in your time slot who want to go Reclaiming, then buy a Reclaimer. BTW, they should be just fine for transport as well, so it is hardly a one trick pony. It is good...

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

If you look at the blind spot Sanzennin ploted out for us, you'll see it is much too small to be used in the way one imagines. Any small maneuvering by the Polaris and the attacking ship will be in targetable position. The key is in whether the lines of sight converge or diverge. If they...

    Esperia Prowler LTI $425

There are upper and lower decks in the Prowler, with rooms behind the cockpit but forward of the troop transport area. Does anyone know what these two rooms are used for? Are there any beds? Is there a scan station or EM Warfare station? It seems odd to ask people for so much cash and not...

Do skills or grinding really matters

You don't seem to have accepted the answer you were given. There are no character skills in the game--only player skills. This above is correct. The key to skill in the SC universe is to LEARN the universe and its dynamics. Learn the layout of the various systems, the abilities of scan and...

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

I think you misunderstand the real utility of a true blind spot. A small patch of space attached to a ship where it cannot see is not a useful blind spot. For ot to be useful you need to be able to approach the ship through that space. If you have to approach the ship through visible area...

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

Even the smallest cap ship, the Polaris; is too large for the Reclaimer to manage, and those S10 torpedoes could not miss such a large and slow target.
  17. Shadow Reaper

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

IIRC, the caps ships are the only ships in the game that do not include a blind spot so far as fire return is concerned. Even the Polaris tips its hat at the blind spot mechanism, in that there is at least one if not two (looks like two) unmanned turrets aft. These are less effective than...

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

I regularly run wargame scenarios, and most commonly, what it will take to board and take over a Polaris. I think it can be done with 7 Vanguards and 14 players: 2 Sentinels, 4 Hoplites and 1 Warden (to respawn boarding party PC's who die in combat on the conflict site.) Vanguards use speed to...

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

That stuff above is cheezy philosopher speak for " you're not making sense". In order to come to the conclusion that just 10 smaller ships could take on a cap, you need to show an example. So take the smallest cap ship, the Polaris; and explain how any collection of small ships will outlast...

    1 cap vs 10 sub-cap

You've asked a conceptually confused question, so the only proper answer is to not answer. There are scenarios where the answer is obviously yes, and there are scenarios where the answer is obviously no. Please precise what collection of smaller ships and which cap ship you mean.
