Indeed. I have a feeling that it is a combined pressure from their own revenue as well as the promises made to the marketing/publisher they picked up for SQ42. They have already said that SQ42 dates are sliding and I am sure that is causing some anxiety and so more resources are getting pulled...

But yes it has three mining turrets that require three miners plus the pilot to fly. It also has a co-pilot seat but right now it doesn't do anything besides allow someone to be the designated...
They were pretty clear on the fact that the pilot only flies and has no control over the mining lasers. Not sure where the rumor the pilot would be able to do more came from or why it persists.
Indeed lots of players approach this the same way. And in fact, the mission team was also doing the same thing and have been revamping their internal process to stop it.
When you spool up QT it does take into consideration objects in your path within a few km out. But I understand not wanting to calculate all of the objects in your path as that would be a huge load on the server along with the little code tricks they do in QT interdiction dropping you in front...
The issue I've always had with the tech demo of Duel Universe is the fact that they only showed the movement of players across the terrain with no interactions. They also did not go into if it's going to be client-side authoritative or server-side authoritative which matters greatly in any game...
