You don't need an internet connection for the AI, that should be onboard so it's situation awareness and decisions are as fast as possible. But the AI needs updates on traffic patterns, construction etc.

One of the things that could happen out of this is that insurance providers are going to have the same kind of reaction. No vaccine? Higher premium. That's why I'm glad they recorded my insurance when I was vaccinated.

I just about totally agree with this. This is a warning shot across our collective bow, and we need to take many lessons from it. The next one might not be so easy to defeat. Not like this one has been entirely easy.
