Nothing is wrong with that, that is the default configuration of a Thrustmaster throttle with SC since 3.5 too. You have to set it to reverse the throttle controls. I have to say, I found the throttle changes annoying. What I suggest is going into Arena Commanders single player free flight...

I think the best idea is to get the ship(s) that are most likely to give you the game play that you want to have in game. There's no "the Hammer Head is better" or "the A2 is best". Besides, I think that both the Hammer Head and the A2 were meant to complement each other, with a few fighter...
