Avenger One: "the F8C Lightning is NOT overpowered"

To be honest, I actually not all that impressed with the F-8. I prefer my Vanguard, especially if the Vanguard had the speed and acceleration it is implied to have in the lore, marketing material, and original vision.

    Well, there's that too.

Avenger One: "the F8C Lightning is NOT overpowered"

The F-8 is OP. However since the F-8A is the brand new front line fighter it is supposed to be OP. Like comparing an F-4 to an F-15.

    Idris-P to Idris-K?

BTW if you're really after a capital ship, depending on how many dedicated friends you have, unless you really want to run small scale flight ops, you're probably better off with a Polaris, given what we know so far. Size 10 torps are monsters, and you get to fire 4 at a time. Especially since...

Avenger One: "the F8C Lightning is NOT overpowered"

He said the most important factor is pilot skill. Would you stop a journeyman carpenter from using a nail gun and force the use of a tack hammer? With equally skilled pilots, Fury vs. LIightning is Egg, meet sledge hammer.

I don't really have a starter but I still don't see a reason for one.

Max 24 on the original Polaris sales page: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15546-The-2946-RSI-Polaris The Brochure linked from that page says 13 to 24. Everything since says 6-17. The Polaris brochure shows 6 bunk beds and two additional beds are listed in the Q&A...

The Liberator has a max crew of 2. The front pad is XXS so an Eclipse, which is on the large size for an XS pad is unlikely to fit, that means only 2 Eclipses. The Liberator is not a combat craft, it is a hauler. While you can launch in combat scenarios that is not ideal use. If you can squeeze...

The Polaris has, according to the brochure and pictures 6 bunks and 2 single berths and isn't supposed to be hot bunking. That gives you a full complement of 14. CIG lists the crew as 6-17. CIG has been quite clear the Idris is 8-28, and it has, in the neighborhood of two dozen beds. The...

True. Which is why I only have one ship with a crew size larger than 3, a Retaliator.

Everything I've seen says crew of 8 to 28. The bunk room, which is the same size as one of the Javelin's crew quarters, holds around 24. Given recent trends of starships, reducing crews, 28 is likely correct. 28 probably doesn't include the small marine complement. But 80 definitely seems way high.

Regarding carrying more fighters than pads, according to the rule "If it sits, it fits," there is a problem. Life support isn't likely to ba capable of handling the pilots, much less the ground crew for each of the fighters. With what they have shown us of Fighters on the Idris, it looks like a...

With CIG's ideal weapon ranges the Hammerhead is pretty useless. It basically has to be docked to what it is defending.

    Zeus II

I recall the Dire Hawk and the Shadow Hawk. That doesn't mean we'll get them. As for "ship of this size" there are quite a few people that, intentionally take bigger ships, like the Connie and 600i into combat. The Retaliator, Hammerhead, Persesus and Polaris are designed to be taken into...

    Zeus II

I figure that while the flight model is changing, and should increase the differences when that happens, the relative comparison should stay the same. The Q&A specifically says the Zeus II should be less agile than the Spirit. The comparison between the Blue and the Spirit, should give an...
