    Ship Loadouts: AEGIS Vanguard Warden

I'm certainly open to developing a standard here. At present, based on the weapons that cannot reach middle or long range to get categories, I suggest 0-2.5km for short, 2.5-5km for medium and >5km for long, but as a pilot you might draw better distinctions. There are two very different...

    Ship Loadouts: AEGIS Vanguard Warden

One of the other things to keep in mind with the Vanguards is they come with a relatively HUGE and hot power generator. If you choose relatively low power weapons like ballistic, you can look at very interesting combinations using stealth. If you can substitute something like the JUST...

    Ship Loadouts: AEGIS Vanguard Warden

I have just recently heard the opposite complaint, that someone couldn't tear down the shields at all. Fact is they are due to be revamped as they are going with 6 instead of 4. Currently they have more shield and higher regeneration than any other fighter. Could be you need to just move...

    Ship Loadouts: AEGIS Vanguard Warden

Its not just you, Fluffy. There is some official CIG literature somewhere, where they liken the Vanguard to the P-38 because of the devastating inboard firepower mounted. It really is easier to target when looking down the barrels. I think it will always matter completely what your objective...

Please put this to rest for me (argument amongst friends)

That's a good answer, but you answered a different question than the one atop this thread. If in an hypothetical someone stipulates very specifically a certain set of conditions, you are not answering their question by supplying a new set of conditions. Th proper answer is really to say that...

Please put this to rest for me (argument amongst friends)

No. I didn't say anything like that. Do you even have high school physics? What I said is entirely correct. The hypothetical says the belt and wheels match speed, so the plane is not moving forward or back. In this instance, the only wind moving over the wing is generated by the engine...

    Fun Fact-Buying advise for Polaris

Even if they had done that, you need to buy a ship that is already flying in order to play with it. The Polaris will probably not fly for at least another nine months.

Please put this to rest for me (argument amongst friends)

If the engines exhaust onto the wings as in twin puller configurations, it is possible the wings would have enough lift for takeoff, which would be essentially vertical. This is unlikely, however. If the engines do not push air onto the wings, the plane cannot fly.

    Life off world. Asgardia.

This is what SSI's G-Lab was designed to study. So far as we know, humans cannot live in micro-gravity even for a few weeks without suffering serous damage to our bodies, but artificial gravity generated by rotation should be a complete cure, at least according to Einstein's General Relativity...

Why you may want a Polaris

Corvettes are historically the ship of choice for pirates and privateers, who load them up with extra crew and use them for boarding actions. The Vanduul, pirates and The Outsiders are all intended to provide just what you call for. See the Privateering thread in the Profession folder. There...

Why you may want a Polaris

Great question. I have no idea. One supposes this involves who can have "permissions" assigned for a ship and how that works, but no news on this yet. Talis don't include tactical operations stations, so probably cannot have the complete picture in a complex battle. They don't even have a...

    Best Fighter for M/K?

I am extremely interested to learn all you can say about that combo. Is the scan slot S1 or S2? This is perhaps the perfect carry along for the Polaris. As I noted the other day, the big torpedoes have very long tracking ranges, but much longer attack ranges, so spotting for a ship like the...

    Best Fighter for M/K?

Thanks for that. No way to put the tracker gear on the Ghost? I know they want them to be separate ships so it seems likely they would stop us from doing that. That would make the Reliant and Turtle the main stealth trackers, and neither very stealthy. Could be the Herald will work as a...

Why you may want a Polaris

Yes, this is why I continue to ask why people are thinking, and theorizing about how to use it as a lame carrier, when it has this other, more powerful use. My guess is for very limited actions it can refuel fighters off its own tanks and the cargo area should be sufficient to store fighter...
