Again, I dont think Chris Roberts wants this turning into The Sims in space.... I think it will be more localized and require you to be within a certain proximity of your NPC crews.

I wrong your wrong. They talked about this on 10 FTC..... initially you will be able to give SIMPLE commands to them like "pilot the ship going from point A to point B". All this was discussed during the autopilot question in 10FTC.

I think this will be viable because the NPC will still be in close proximity with you as you make your way.

It was pretty much in 10 FTC by the way they described it. You CAN have NPC's crew your ship with you, but I dont think they want the game to turn into a NPC management game where all you do is give out commands while you become this armchair captain. They want you to be involved with the game...

Right, you can hire them to pilot the ship, but you have to be there too. You cant just let the NPCs do EVERYTHING. Someone has to give them commands on what to do throughout a flight.

I dont think YOUR ship will be full automated, you will probably have to be on the ship to give the commands to your crew.
