Skins: if I buy that nice pirate skin, is it good on the Aurora only? Or all ships? And is it an single use item, or can you use it multiple times on different ships?

Can someone explain boost to me? I double tap and I engage my afterburners. Yay, go fast in a straight line. What does boost do? Boost your maneuvering thrusters so you go fast sideways if strafing?
