That is part of being done. For me polish is tweeking shaders, adjust things like rivers that don't flow correctly, etc. Carrara does better trees and plants, and has a more complete tool set. Vue integrates better with other 3D graphics software, but requires you are mixing your render engine...

Don't get me started on the avatar system. :) I've no idea if anyone is. The licensing doesn't require recognition. I would suspect ED is using part of the workflow. They turned out a lot of systems in a very short period of time. I've seen demos with both Unity and Unreal of the Carrara...

So far, they aren't up to the level I described. Granted Carrara only, realy, has VUE as a competitor for terrain and landscape generation, they are specifically designed to do this work. When designed Carrara and Vue's terrain systems were only useful in gaming at very low resolution, but...

In most game engines the deformation capability is built in. Once the pieces are streamed in, and deformations applied, then the deformed objects are streamed to the clients.

Yes. I would expect, for the cave example, the ground, the cave and a destructible opening cover to be modeled in a modeler, like 3DS MAX, Maya, Carrara, etc. be three separate objects and the combination and destruction, to happen in engine. The cave to be streamed in only as needed. Oh, and I...

The end result is 3D mesh, like most in game objects. Deformation would, generally, be handled in engine. I can do the deformation in Carrara, just like I could do river flow, or wind in the trees, but having the game engine read it would, likely be painful, high overhead and it definitely...

Mapping is one of the reinventing the wheel things. https://nbos.com/products/astrosynthesis https://rpgmaps.profantasy.com/fractal-terrains-3-plus/ https://www.daz3d.com/bryce-7-pro https://www.daz3d.com/carrara-8-5-pro (I ran QA for the last two, in fact Bryce 7 is from 2011. IIRC Carrara 8...

They are trying to build on a foundation of shifting sand. To make matters worse, they insist on reinventing the wheel.

I'm thinking about how to run an online version of Traveller again. Any interest here?

You can't measure progress without a clear definition of the end goal. With Star Citizen the end goal is both undefined and constantly moving. If there is any progress, it is impossible to measure.

I'm fed up with the nonsense coming out of CIG. The lack of being able to hit their own self imposed deadlines. The lack of transparency. The lack of build discipline, which is the only explanation for the amount of regression bugs. The lack of a clear definition of what "done" looks like. The...

    Crusader Spirit

The interior fits in the top down orthographic projection. The angle on the exterior, especially in the room at the front, near the cockpit, doesn't allow for the full height walls in the interior. Just thinking about force reactions being applied as someone traverses that hallway, and the...
