While this is true, the stock Gatling, the Revenant, and the Balistic repeaters only have 15 second of ammo. If you are going balistics, go with cannons, and mix them with laser cannons, so you only get one pip.
This!
One addition.
Size 4 nose gun first.
Size 3 wing guns second.
FR 66 shields third.
Atlas Quantum Drive
Unify your missiles.
From a practical standpoint nothing else really matters.
Generally:
Laser repeaters are my prefered choice, in most situations, and my recommendation for new...
I ran a Logitech 3D stick for a while. It was a little sloppy but worked OK.
A few years ago I got a Logitech X56 HOTAS for Chtistmss. I've never looked back. The thing about the X56 is it has thumbsticks for strafing.
You don't have to hit cruise control or hold the stick forward to fly...
I prefer Loreville, but unless you are doing trading, you are probably better off basing on one of the stations and you can move your base of operations to one of those.
You aren't stuck with your "home choice." You can just move your inventory and ships to a new location any time you want...
In combat the engineering crew is responsible for damage control. I'd think that was rather important.
Depending on the engineering space there may be more than one engineer required.
The Carrack has too small a maximum crew, which is a life support limitation. According to CIG's definition...
You are leaving out the flight engineer for the fully crewed Hammerhead, at a minimum.
There are other positions on both the Carrack and the Polaris.
Pilot and gunner is only short term.
Can't sell the big ships if CIG admits that soloing multi-crew ships is not going to be practical.
It isn't about playing the game, it is about making money to fund the development.
My game package is a Scoundrel Pack. It makes my fleet a little less flexible when it comes to what can and can't be done with it. I see the appeal in consolidating a pack for that purpose, especially since all of my ships have LTI but keep in mind it does limit your options in terms of what...
This. Very much this.
I ditched my Polaris for the crew reason. In fact, about a year ago I reorganized my fleet around that concept. I was tying up too much money in ships that I would spend too much time getting crew for, instead of playing.
I would recommend the Hercules C2 as closer to the capabilities of the Carrack for solo play. If you want a big Explorer then the Aquila or the 600i would be the closer equivalent for someone that is primarily solo.
Otherwise, I agree with your assessment.
It is ideal for courier missions, starting (in the current state) bounty hunting missions and starting combat missions. It is a bit light in capacity for cargo running but will let you try your hand at it. It should get the ability to load in some prison cells, in exchange for cargo room, for...
Welcome aboard.
Between my better half and I we have spent way too much on this experiment. But that means if you catch us online you can borrow anything we have. There is no need to drop lots of money to earn your way up, and even with my little (by Concierge standards) fleet, I will still...
I wasn't counting those. They have told us there will be a complete rebuild of the flight and combat model when physical components get into the game, the other one they announced recently, but I don't remember exactly what it was. I believe it was something to do with ship roles, but I wasn't...
One other minor point, if you are going to have two ships, then wait until you get a good LTI token (You'll learn what that means) for your second ship and your second ship should be the profession starter ship for your intended profession. Note that profession starter ships and general starter...
Never chase meta with real money, that gets very expensive very fast.
We know there will be, at least, two more times where they burn down the current ship combat specs, that they have told us about.
This is very important.
If you don't like the look of the ship, no matter what the stats...
I would start with an Aurora, Mustang or Avenger Titan, and earn ships in game from there. :) Learn from my mistakes. :)
I would also recommend waiting until Invictus Launch Week so you get 10 years of Insurance for your game package. Though you can usually cash in your package and pick up...
